Vandy 392 on 71 plays Tenn 434 on 69 plays UF 385 on 71 plays Now keep in mind the huge amount of penalties. In 2009, we had 3 games total of 350 yards + and just 1 game of 69+ plays. Slowly things are coming together. This is is nowhere near anything to brag about, but improvement needs credit.
What we did against Florida was almost astounding actually. If someone had told you before the game that LSU would rush for a meager 3 yards per carry average, you would have sworn our offense put up 3 points or less in that game. We ended up scoring 33 against a legitimately good defense. They may be young but they are good. One O-line penalty. One. One turnover by the offense. Special teams cost us 14 points. Otherwise it's a comfortable win and maybe even a blowout. The special team gaffes are more than correctable.
It's exactly what many folks have been hoping for. Average QB play (some of it was above average, actually) and fewer stupid errors. If LSU were to play a turnover free game, with QB performance akin to the Florida game, I'm not sure anyone will be able to beat them. Again - that's a big "if". But the clouds seem to be lifting a bit. I think Izzy said it in an earlier thread and I agree - would be great to see Les take the leash off of Lee against McNeese. Could be huge.
385 yards and 71 plays is the most Florida has given up this season, in either category. Also, 243 yards on 56 plays is Florida's worse offensive performance since week one, when they only got 56 plays off for 212 yards against Miami (OH).
