I'm not sure you can watch the last two games and say the DL is better. I think this late in the season it's becoming clear that the first half of our schedule was uncommonly soft. Moo U, USC and AU suck. Florida was the only decent team we played before Bama.
The DL may be a lil better, but don't get me wrong, they still mediocre. The whole D has played mediocre. The DL gets eaten up, having trouble shedding blocks. They do not rush the passer well on their own. The LB's can't cover and they often times take bad angles when trying to tackle. Too many broken tackles as well. Beckwith is the best LB, but he has not had a good season. The DB's play have covered fairly well in man coverage but get killed in zone. They also have very poor tackling fundamentals as well.
NOT as the Recruiting Coordinator. Great individual recruiter, but his classes are unbalanced. Not enough big and strong SEC Championship caliber OL's, DL's and LB's. No SEC Championship caliber QB's anywhere to be seen either! Keep him on as RB coach, but let O take over as RC. (That's if Miles survives after this season) Personally, I don't think Les is getting fired regardless, but I can see where a behind the scenes mutually agreeable settlement is negotiated and he "Retires" after this season. Absolutely see this as a possibility of happening after this season. He doesn't have support any longer from the majority of the LSU fan base........................
No way is Les leaving that much money on the table. IMO they give him one more year while putting together a legitimate national coaching search (not the sham where Johnny Jones was always the top choice). If Alleva gives Les an extension after this season, Baton Rouge may run out of pitchforks for both of them.
Is this realistic? On one hand, you have the winningest coach in program history; on the other, arguably, an underperforming coach given the talent-level of players recruited to play here. I guess what I'm getting at is would something like this realistically play out in such a short period of time, given the large amount of money involved?
No it's not realistic that that scenario will play out. Why would Miles settle when he's guarenteed x amount with the buyout clause that's in place. Alleva should be fired for giving giving such a dumbass contract like that alone!
