When is the last time you knew LSU to give up 20 points in every game they played in a year? Even the cupcakes have scored 20 on this defense.
White, Mills, Adams, Tolliver will all play on Sunday. That's not too shabby. Not many teams start an entire defensive backfield full of future NFL players.
Saban fired Steele because he was not getting the job done and Chavis left because Miles cannot put together an offense. That is why Steele is here now.
I really don't know what to say about the defense at this point other than it is BAD. Is this solely on Steele? I realize that he's trying to install a new system and doesn't have the personnel he needs to be successful Does Chavis bear some of the blame? The fact that he preferred smaller & quicker front 7 personnel is certainly not helping, especially when playing Alabama and Arkansas. We are totally outmatched against those two teams. Why is the secondary so bad this year? Is it scheme? Personnel? Both? Very frustrating.
I think Steele is best as a LB coach. He is not a DC. I know the type of players here do not fit his system. I get that makes a difference. But the fact is he sucks, he does not adjust at all. A good coach makes adjustments, he doesn't. The problem is that the staff has either missed out by taking players they shouldn't or they haven't coached them up like in years past. I think the talent is down a bit, but I do feel it's a big lack of coaching. The team comes ill prepared week in and week out.
Corey Raymond is no Ron Cooper, Kevin Steele is no real coach. We have a coaching staff full of guys who are used car salesmen, they can sell to the kids, and fans, but come Saturday they don't have a fucking clue.
