Again, I will give the man a chance. The D was bad this year but we are 7-2 and in those 2 losses the played well enough to give us a shot. The problem is our idiot of a coach has an offense predicated on the D getting 3 and outs every series. In fact I think that is the problem. Our D is able to shut down our O in practice so he thinks we are good. How pathetic
I think our O knows as well as our D we cannot pass , you can see it in the players eyes . When you have a tame 3rd and 12 and they toss a short 8 yard pass and get the 1st what is that ??
QB play? Did you watch either game? The entire team was the difference, coaching staff too. You don't think the OL played a part in the piss poor running and passing game? Do you think that will change?
Brandon Harris played like shit in both games but if you want to get right down to it, he was really the only reason we scored against either team.
I agree the QB and receiver play have to step up. However I do think the lack of in game reps early in the season in hurting. They have no rhythm together. Harris has to learn to trust his reads and make the damn throw. Dural has to catch the ball or have his ass sit down for next man up. That said I think the passing game is either deep or too conservative and short. Teams no we probably running short routes or running the ball, they know by formation and personnel as well. Quinn and Diarse is 95% run play. LSU needs a better intermediate passing game. We also need to use the backs better. That is something Cam done well, which shows me that Miles has his thumb print on the offensive game plan.
Poor Trey Quinn. He has what, 3 catches all year? After the drops last year against Alabama he has vanished into nothing.
It's sad because Dural has had a shitload of drops this year but never sits. I think Quinn should have more opportunities.
I think our route tree for our WR's is archaic, not creative, and highly predictable. I think Harris' arm is strong enough to throw across the field, but you don't see us running pick plays with the WR's with the short passes where a WR can turn a 2 yd pass into a 52 yd TD. Even Bama has conceded and has some creativity with their passing game. Why must we always run a screen pass to our RB's? why not dump it out into the flats to them against these ultra aggressive defenses and let them go to work? There are lots of parts in motion as to why our QB/WR's and passing game looks bad, everything from blocking to coaching to play calling to decisions by the QB,etc..... but is very frustrating when we actually have a capable QB and 6-7 very, very capable WR's.
