I don't think that's cheap. 350k a year is about right for a 1st year coach. I think we all expect him to do great things, so when that happens, his deal will get re-done.
I wish I could get a $350k job doing something at a much higher level than I had ever done before. Faulk's on the field coaching experience before now has never been above the high school level. Obviously there are great expectations considering who he is and his non coaching coaching resume. Even if he is only OK as a RB coach the fact that he will be a great recruiter and well worth $350k.
I think O was just fine replacing Aranda w Pelini and Robinson w Faulk. As in supporting their desires to further their careers (ie, don’t let the door hit you on the rear).
Dixon and Embody were reporting the latter, but it could just be speculation. They were saying RB coach is kind of an easy gig on the field that teams will fill with a good recruiter. I don’t know what his goals are, but I imagine he won’t be in that position too long if he wants to move up.
Wish in one hand and crap in the other which fills first ... Fools in here thinking $350K is TOP PAY It ain’t ... We fail again to be TRENDSETTERZ and fall victim to the cheap out. I hate that POS Scott Woodward as he’s 100% behind this. Losing Brady didn’t teach this dufus dick. You get a double dip with Faulk ... Position Coach and recruiting king! Think all those that left LSU won’t be coming in here for TAMU et al and pillaging Louisiana for RBs ... Of course they will and they’ll get them. Etienne wasn’t the last. Mark it. Gotta pay the Playas!
Nobody said it was top pay. I said it about right for a first year coach with no experience at the collegiate level and would get redone in a couple of years when he proved himself. And it's still 150k more then Robinson was getting and he was experienced and successful. Let A&M continue overpaying for coaches. More money doesn't necessarily translate to on field success. Not sure why you keep thinking LSU is short changing their assistant coaches. You can't pay everyone top dollar, but on average, their assistants are among the highest paid in the nation. LSU is one of only 3 other schools paying their coaches over $6m a year.
Ed Orgeron told a story today about Kevin Faulk. They went to recruit in Lafayette, and when Orgeron arrived around 6:30 a.m. — an hour earlier than they planned to meet — one other car sat in the parking lot. It belonged to Faulk, LSU's new running backs coach. "I knew you'd be early," Faulk told Orgeron. That shit, right there
