This has been the excuse for this vanilla offense since the '08 season... all any one has to do to shut this offense down is stack the box. I swear we'd still run the ball if someone put all 11 guys up front, this offensive staff needs to wake the hell up.
We've played the favorite to win two other BCS conferences in Oregon and West Virginia away from home...I think we've seen our offensive scheme by now. We haven't saved anything, it is just a vanilla/conservative scheme to complement a dominant defense. On another note...has anyone noticed Jarrett Lee's continued tendency to lock on to his primary target and throw it to him no matter what? This caused him a lot of grief his freshman year and I have seen it A LOT this season. Its as if he breaks the huddle and says "I'm throwing it to Rueben" or "I'm throwing it to Odell" no matter what. UF and Bama make the INTs that WVU, UK, etc. have dropped.
Defense playing lights out, but I don't like the idea of letting the other team hang around. Game's still too close. We need a couple of quick scores to break it open. :geauxtige
Silver lining is that Blue and Maggee are getting more touches; they should rest Ware for the rest of the game before he wares out! I am very curious as to how they would use JJ in the 2nd half....like giving the offense a little kick to get it going with Lee (like RP in 2007).
On a lighter note, Kentucky put 299 yards on the gators last week. But so far they're only at around 50 against us.
Can anyone explain why we started by running Ware / Ford east and west instead of pounding up the middle? I'd ask for a reason why we still throw the sideline passes, but I've found those to be inexplicable. We have to get over the day game funk before next weekend.
I have noticed this. It's like he doesn't check down his receivers as much. Bama's secondary will eat JL alive if he does that.
