After two seasons. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4021232 This guy had everything going for him when he was at aTm. Did he just have the perfect storm there and pulled something similar to Brady? Or did he make the biggest mistake of his life by going to Kentucky? I still think they made a huge mistake getting rid of Tubby two years ago. Every name in the country is popping up for this job. I just don't see why. Tubby Smith never lost in the first round when he was at UK. He was fired for simply not winning the East for two years. Now look where they are.
We were working Kentucky last week and I was in Lexington for a couple days. Gillispie had more problems then the record. Apparently he was fond of the Kentucky sour mash and partook at a pretty good clip. He was seen in public drinking heavily and with people the head coach at Kentucky shouldnt have been partying with. There was also some arrogance on his part regarding the extra curricular activities. I think he was fired more for what he did off the court than for what he didn't do on it.
im thinking all of the guys they target, billy donavan, jay wright, rick barnes, will all politely decline due to the obscene amount of pressure at Kentucky.
BTW...I also think Kentucky may have had their new coach in place before firing Gillispie. I think its Billy D and its probably been a done deal for a few days.
damn guess you were right. Florida had to have known that donavan was slimey, when he bolted for boston a year ago, then magically decided against it. Bet he regrets that considering they won a championship last year.
