Big Brown is a STUD! He will win the Triple Crown. My ego won't let me bet a favorite so I'll have to pick someone to beat him.

As for the filly...I'm speachless. :bncry:

I was really bummed out but Belles but after watching the Nascar race I can talk about the 1st race of the day.

Big Brown is everything that everyone said, the horse ran on the outside for the entire race and still pulled away from everyone on the home stretch.

The overhead footage of the home stretch was unreal the seperation that he got as fast as he got it I thought was remarkable.

I have always watched the races looking for that Triple Crown winner (last one was in the year I was born) I think on a personal level that Big Brown could be the Triple Crown winner the year my baby will be born.

    yep.

just conformation for me that horse racing is screwed up.

they should not allow anabolic steriods.

I think that this has stirred such emotions that the horse racing world can not take some sort of action.

And if they dont I am sure Congress will find a way to step in and put the pressure on.

I am sure the steriods have something to do with it but it seems that alot of the talking heads think that it comes down to breeding.

Unfortunately that article didn't prove your claim. The Derby doesn't test for steroids. The necropsy has not yet been performed. It may show that she didn't have any in her system but will likely not show whether she had ever been given any at a prior time, particularly when she was younger. Of course the trainer and owner are going to claim she's clean. For their sake I hope the test results prove them correct but even they admitted they look for LARGE horses at sale and steroids are/have been an issue plenty of times.

There isn't even circumstantial evidence to prove Eight Bells EVER took steriods. All you have is speculation about a tragic event. Why jump to that conclusion?

it is fact that steroids are allowed. i assume (perhaps incorrectly) that to be competitive, they all take them (especially the ones that end up being good)

anyway, it doesnt matter if the dead horse was given steriods. they should still not be allowed.

Steroids are definitely allowed and there is not one horse in the USA that can compete without them at that level.

I dont think Ed is trying to deny that fact, as to he is saying there is no proof that is what the cause of the problem is.

Heard a horse racing expert say that alot of these problem are happening because they start training these horse for speed to early in their lives.

The trainers and owners arent giving the bones the proper time to mature which cause small undected abnormalites (sp) within the bone which lead to the big breaks when the strain is put on them.
