I have said I thought she should have resigned. My whole argument was that what she did doesn't make her a hypocrite just because her life is a train wreck and she made bad choices. The gay crowd was quick to jump on that. If she had led an exemplary life they would have found some other way to trash her. For all we know she could have been doing it all to gain notoriety and somehow make money off of its and that would make her a hypocrite. But as you are so fond of saying we have no proof of that.
You tried to over simplify a complex question. One did evolve from the other but their not the same by any means. Jews saw Jesus as a blasphemer because he preached a radical different message.
No, I was saying that Gumborue is incorrect in saying that "everything changed" with Christianity and the old laws were "replaced with a new covenant". I correctly pointed out that the Old Testament was never dropped from the Bible and Christians do exalt a Jewish deity, prophets, and patriarchs including the Ten Commandments, which Christian fundamentalists are trying to have placed in every schoolroom and courthouse.
As usual, the moral majority worries too much about what other people are doing in their own bedrooms. Who cares if a couple pickle puffers are poking each other in the sphincter as long as it's in the privacy of their own home. I'm just surprised this misguided better than thou dumb bitch isn't a republican. Jail is the right place for her retarded ass, if you're opposed to doing your job and following the law go get another fkn job!
I think most sensible people would agree here. If she is so conflicted then just quit. The crazy part of this whole story isn't that this Pentecostal woman won't issue marriage licenses, it's that she makes 80k per year.
Martin Luther King protested in order to give people rights. Kim Davis' protests in order to take away rights that have already been granted by the Supreme Court. Ms. Davis is using her position as a government official to force others to follow her religious beliefs. That might fly in Afghanistan or in ISIS territory but not here.
you can argue that she is or isn't a hypocrite all you like but there is no denying that she was attempting to practice theocracy in our secular, democratic government.
