debatable,.. often the father would choose the wife, often the mother would choose the child,.. in the past it was a choice left to God,.. now it's primarily a medical decision.
It is a horrible thing. I only asked because a situation exactly like this happened to someone I know. Not that numbers should matter, but this happens in about 1% of all pregnancies. It's an interesting concept to ponder. If both parents were given the choice in a situation where the spouse and the child are drowning and only one can be saved, which would the other parent save? I suspect that in more cases than not, the mother would pick the child. But I could certainly be wrong.
