Here is a wild card. I have noticed all season that on the sidelines a walk on QB named AJ Aycock wearing jersey # 3 has the headsets on and along with Parrish helps to send in the plays. I have mentioned him here before. He also is seen many times sitting with Burrow, Brennan and Parrish on the bench. We have 2 other walk on QB's who are nowhere to be seen. Checked up on this kid from Arkansas many times and he is a 6' 5" 215 redshit freshman. Found video of him and this kid can not only throw but can run. The LSU staff must think an awful lot of this kid to have him sending in plays and sitting with the starting QB and his immediate backups. Don't be surprised if he is not in the mix next year. What a snappy comeback. So your summation is that Aycock is involved with getting the plays in, learning our offense and sitting with our #1 and #2 QB's is because of his outstanding skills of clipboard holding? Well coach Bengal B AJ is involved in play calls, learning the offense and sitting with the starters because the staff looks at him as someone who can come in if Joe gets hurt and Brennan is hurt to or can't move the team. AJ is not sitting with the starting QB's for no reason. Take one of your fingers and click the link and tell me this kid is chopped liver.
You made my point exactly what I think I am seeing. Maybe Aycock IS the #3 not Parrish which is why you see him and not the other QB's. His senior videos look good and E and Brady must see something in this kid.
Aycock May look great, but the QBs we have now and coming in are too good for him to compete I think.
Just adding to the conversation here, It's great that Aycock is getting involved on the sideline. I would hope that any QB on the roster would be doing everything possible to learn, improve, and contribute to the team. I would also hope that the coaches are doing everything possible to get the next man up ready to lead this team into the future and maintain success. It's a tribute to the young man for wanting to be involved, and also to the coaching staff for giving him that opportunity. If he is the best guy in the QB room, he will get his shot. Intangibles go a long way with winning the job as well. The tape can say a lot, but there is a lot that can't be said by tape.
Didn't say anywhere in my post that Aycock would be our starter next year. I simply said he is a guy to watch. I like his video from high school and as I mentioned he seems to be someone the staff has singled out among the walk on's. Don't care who starts next year just give me someone who is just close to being as good as Burrow. BTW I like Max Johnson's video a lot, looks a bit like Burrow.
He'll have the advantage on everyone but Brennan, so we'll see if he can make the most of it. No matter who it is though, they have a tough act to follow.
