someone has to be the sacrificial lamb... can't be verge, or if it is verge, then someone else (sanger?) has to go as well. the optics of verge alone won't work.
Verge and Segar should be fired, but they won't fire Verge given his status, his wife, and then there's his kids we're recruiting. . So you can't fire Segar if you won't fire him. To be fair she and Verge were just doing what LSU instructed them to do, but it was all clear violations they had to know they were committing. Not firing either is embarrassing. It just is.
Verge is the most shocking to still be here. He’s the only one in entire report with actual physical proof of wrongdoing He deleted Text messages to/from Lester Earl Jr. on a University provided phone. That’s A. a very clear violation on NCAA rules B. due to the subject matter of the texts, a very clear violation of Title IX rules
Yup. He's as plugged in as it gets. It was going to be very hard to fire him given everything I mentioned, but his actions certainly warranted it. It's tough because the someone needed to get the hammer and only two people really were left and one of them is viewed nigh untouchable given he played there, knows where all the bodies are buried, is in line for leadership, his wife's family is as politically tied in this state as you can be, etc etc etc. Just terrible PR and management by LSU. Nothing new there. Again Verge was just doing what he was told to do by Alleva by the way. Same with Segar. The system was meant to keep that crap from getting properly handed sadly.
