Those are two of the highest profile cases in the last two years where Kennedy and Roberts broke from the conservative side. If you want more, do the research but there are plenty more.

You know I found something and it seems to me that the only really truly partisans on the bench are Alito, Scalia, Kagan, and Sotomeyor. The others kind of jump back and forth. And Clarence Thomas is out there on an island by himself.

Interesting to note that Kagan and Sotomayor are the Obama appointees. You can see why republicans are nervous.

they were needed though to offset Alito and Scalia. The next one will more than likely be that Sri Srivannson (butchered name) dude who is a moderate.

and then RBG and Breyer will either retire or die and Rubio will lock it down with a couple of Scalia clones

It depends on what you mean by partisan. While this is currently the Roberts court, by recent key decisions one could argue that it's really been the Kennedy court. The most recent appointments are the justices most likely to vote together. The older justices like Scalia were more likely to vote "on their own" so to speak. And still, the current court seems more interested in making the statement that they vote according to the law as opposed to any ideological frame of reference.

Where everything went really wrong IMO was with Carter. That idiot and a Democratic Congress passed a bill expanding the federal judiciary that added 10 new judgeships to the 13-member court, nearly doubling its size overnight. They represent 20% of the country, clearly the most powerful, and have well-earned their reputation as the 9th Circus and Nutty 9th.

"Over the course of his one-term presidency, Carter managed to appoint 15 of the Ninth Circuit's 23 judges, or 65 percent—a statistic that would dramatically shape the court for the next 30 years. With a friendly Congress behind him, Carter had his pick of appointees. That led to some notable appointments, especially in the Ninth Circuit......Carter's appointees tended to share his stridently left-leaning beliefs. Congressional support allowed Carter to appoint "some of the most liberal judges ever, to any court," observed Chief Judge Emeritus Alex Kozinski to The New York Times in 2010.

One of Carter's most famously liberal appointees to the Ninth Circuit is Stephen Reinhardt, the court's "liberal lion" and the author of decisions finding a constitutional right to physician-assisted suicide (reversed by the Supreme Court), no constitutional right to bear arms (overruled by the Supreme Court), and that California's Proposition 8 violated equal protection (vacated by the Supreme Court)."

Talk about a scam. A one-term tard impacts the direction of the biggest decisions in this country for 30 freaking years. They send more cases to the SCOTUS than any other court, forcing a liberal hand. If it wasn't for more conservative thinkers and Constitutionalists like Scalia, there would be anarchy in regard to the law of the land. I'm telling you now LaSalle, Obama puts another lefty in there, and they are coming for your guns.

I'm thinking it's going to be Loretta Lynch or Paul Watford.
