Thanks for the props. Your team put on a good showing. They are young and will be back. Remember Tradition has to start somewhere, and this the Hoo's beginning to a long road of success. That said, I am much happier facing this Piggie team that we know how to spank. Stick around, this is going to be a fun 2 weeks, and you guys are welcome on the wagon.

Bad strike call on 3-0 pitch in the bottom of the 9th which would have walked in the winning run ruined UVA's chances.............in my opinion. Sure looked like a ball on TV. Sad that an umpire's call can knock a team out.

However, I was pulling for UVA in the sense they were classy and had come out of nowhere, but figuring we had a better chance in 2 straight, if it comes to that, vs. Ark.

Congrats to a classy team, UVA, a classy coach, and hope your bunch makes it again.

hope you and some of the other hoo's stick around to discuss football. we have a good mix of fans from other schools that post and it makes for good discussion.

i hope uva can build on what they have. just getting to the cws is a feat in itself. a lot of other teams would have liked to have been there. now they they have the rookie status out of the way, maybe they can make it back and go further. unless they play us, that is.

I definitely think that 3-0 pitch was a ball, but I'm not as upset about that call as a lot of people seem to be. Had I known that we would lose the game, I would have loved to see that pitch called ball 4 to force in the winning run. But something about winning that way feels cheap. I don't like Texas, but for some reason I felt mad at them for winning with a walk-off walk a few nights ago. I wanted to see one of our players do something to win the game rather than just have it handed to us by Arkansas. But forcing in a run with a walk is part of the game whether it's in the 1st inning or the bottom of the 9th inning. The thing that did bother me some is how the strike zone seemed to change each half inning from the 9th inning on. Maybe it was just me watching through my orange and blue glasses, but to me it seemed like a pitch thrown by Carraway (our guy) that was a 1-2 inches off the plate was a ball while a ball thrown by Jay Leno a couple inches off the plate was a strike. For most of the game it didn't seem that way, but something changed in those last 3-4 innings.

Regardless, I don't like blaming the umpires too much, especially when we had so many chances to win the game ourselves. You can't expect to win when you make that many base running mistakes and leave so many runners on base. By my count, we were 2-15 with RISP with 1 RBI and 8 K's. We had 14 runners LOB, with 8 of those coming between the 9th & 12th innings. Then we had a runner picked off 1st, a runner out after overrunning 3rd that would have left runners on 2nd & 3rd with 2 outs (not sure if that was the runner's fault or the 3rd base coach), and then had those 2 horrible mistakes by the runner on 2nd base in the 10th (not advancing to 3rd on the swinging bunt and going back towards 2nd on the single up the middle). We also had a runner thrown out at 2nd by the RF trying for a double, but I credit the RF with making a heck of a throw rather than calling that a base running mistake. I could make the stats look even uglier if my stomach weren't starting to get sick again from re-living it. There's just way too many mistakes and golden opportunities wasted for me to blame an umpire for something.

There have been plenty of visiting fans on these forums over the years and the UVA fans that stopped by were by FAR the classiest fans. Hope some of you stick around for football season and of the next baseball season.

I have never had an opinion of UVA before but I can honestly say I will root for that school in any sporting event (except when they are playing LSU) I watch from now on.

I sue wouldn't mind CPM and BOC scheduling some out of conference series in the future.

Congrats again for making it to Omaha.

Congrats on a great season. While most of us usually pull for other SEC teams in any sport I think you guys became honorary "SEC" for the tourney. Hope to see y'all again in future games...

I think being a Miami fan in '96 would be worse. :tigbas::champs: :hihi:
