I'm a die hard Virginia fan who is having a hard time getting over the loss last night (or at least the way in which we lost). I've been a Virginia fan and a baseball fan all my life, and it's always been a dream of mine to see Virginia make it to Omaha. I never thought it would happen, especially when we almost dropped baseball as a sport about 7 or so years ago. Thankfully, we didn't drop it and then hired Coach O'Connor who has taken the program to unprecedented heights. Even though we lost last Saturday, it was a lot of fun watching us, the new kids on the scene, play a team like LSU that has such good tradition and such a good fan base.

I wasn't able to make the trip to Omaha, but I've heard nothing but good things about your fans there. Maybe next year we can both get there again and be on opposite sides of the bracket so we can pull for each other. I have a lot of respect for your program and your coach (both Coach Bertman and Coach Mainieri), and I'll definitely be rooting for you guys the rest of the way.

    Go 'Hoos and Geaux Tigers!!

I was really pulling for you guys last night.

That was one of the most agonizing losses I have ever witnessed.

Congrats again for making it to the CWS. You guys had a tremendous season and should be very proud.

I found myself switching sides last night. On one hand, I wanted to pull for the SEC, but on the other, I really like the way Virginia plays. You guys have a lot to be proud of, and a lot to look forward to. That young team will be back, and next time, they'll have experience.

    Thanks!

We are proud and hope that this is just the beginning of bigger and better days ahead.

I'll start to feel better once you guys smash Arky tomorrow and send those little piggies squealing back to their pens.

    Bring home #6!

Thanks for the kind words about our Tigers and fans. Very tough loss for y'all last night. Unfortunately, in championship tournaments like these, only 1 team goes home happy. First trip to Omaha is usually bumpy. UVA has much to be proud of, they competed hard, with class, and I bet they had fun overall. Best thing is, y'all are young and talented with good coaching. You'll be back soon I'd bet.

Congrats on the season and good luck in the future.

I enjoyed watching your team compete this year. I expect to see them back in Omaha next season.Last night was a tough loss. My wife and I agreed that it was a shame that one team had to lose such a hard fought game. Good Luck to your team and many well wishes for your fans too.

You have nothing to feel ashamed or sorry about. You guys a great team, and a great head coach and the future for Virginia baseball is very bright. Congrats on a great season, and make sure you wear an LSU hat for the rest of the CWS.

I did not want to face UVA again but neither did I want to face Keuchel. That game worked out pretty good for the Tigers. Take this as a compliment, Hoos: I'm glad you lost.

"...make sure you wear an LSU hat for the rest of the CWS."

Funny you should say that. Somewhere in the late 80s to early 90s while I was in high school, I started collecting hats for schools that had baseball teams that I liked (besides Virginia). I probably had about 20 hats from different schools that rotated wearing. After I outgrew that phase, I stuck them in the back of my closet and eventually sold them off in a yard sale. I only have 1 hat left from that collection - my LSU hat. Besides Virginia, I wore my purple fitted LSU hat the most. Since it's fitted, it eventually became too small for my head, I cut the band on the inside of the hat and a little bit of the hat on the back seam and then had the edges I had cut sewn so it wouldn't unravel. That made it so the hat would still fit me. When I bought the hat, I also ordered an LSU baseball shirt, which I still also have. So I'll definitely be breaking those back out now that Virginia's season is over.

We stayed in the same hotel as the Hoos. The hotel has a very nice indoor pool area. Several of the players came in to use the hot tub while my kids were in it. The players were very nice to the kids and had a good conversation w/ them. I had the pleasure of talking w/ several of the VA players and support staff as well. They were all extremely polite and very complimentary of the tigers. I was impressed w/ all that I met.

Your fans who stayed at the hotel were all top notch. Again, nothing but good to say about them as well.

I never have like Arkansas and after meeting so many nice VA folks, it was easy to pull for ya'll last night. Hopefully we'll see you back in Omaha next year.
