You must have looked at it wrong.

Montana's regular season stats are one of the best. 92.3 career regular season QB rating is 8th best all time. Elway is 55th all time.

John Elway had the 3 amigos. Anybody having convenient memory loss? One of the best trios to ever play the game for about a 4 or 5 year period. Rod Smith had a great career. And somehow I remember a fella by the name of Shannon Sharpe.

    Yeah, he had no one.

Come on people, that excuse is so lame and overused.

Well genius, in the 4 SB yrs of Montana i think his most TDs in a yr was 28 and had double digit INTs in 3 of them. Twice his QB rating in the 80s. Like i said, his stats were ok, not great in those yrs. Unless the TF stat whore has it wrong??

Are you seriously gonna use the 3 amigos??? Three little scat-back WR that are no where in the vicinity of a Jerry Rice and John Taylor.

Hello McFly!!! I said Elway finally won when he had help. Terrel Davis, Rod Smith, Shannon Sharpe, Ed McAffery, etc.

Your use of only stats is what's lame and overrated. So Aaron Brooks had a higher QB rating than Elway so that makes him better in your eyes??? Gimme a phucking break!!!

But here's some stats for you that i guess you don't consider to be viable:

When Elway retired he had the NFL record for wins as a starting QB.

He was second to only Marino in yds, att, comp, and total offense.

Tied the NFL record for 3000 yd seasons with 12.

Set an NFL record with 47 fourth quarter comebacks.

And since you love stats so much, here's some for your 3 amigo's theory:

Mark Jackson career stats over 9 seasons:
    342 rec
    5,551 yds
    29 TDs

Vance Johnson career stats over 11 seasons:
    415 rec
    5,695 yds
    37 TDs

Ricky Nattiel career stats over 6 seasons:
    121 rec
    1,972 yds
    8 TDs

WOW!!! How are these three guys not in the HOF???

    Oh yeah, Jerry Rice stats:
    1549 rec
    22,815 yds
    197 TDs

The 3 Amigos combined come no where near Jerry Rice. I'm not saying Montana wasn't good by any means, but it sure was nice to have the best WR, if not football player, of all-time.

And just maybe Jerry Rice becomes a bust in the NFL had he not been drafted by the 49ers.

PS - John Elway is better than Aaron Brooks.

FYI DOTB, Fran Tarkenton was my favorite QB growing up much the same way you loved Elway growing up. I swore he was the best QB ever until Montana came along.

Now that I can look at all the stats, I see clearly that Tarkenton is a fraud just as much as some of these other guys. Sure he piled up all the stats, but his career is fairly mediocre as he was carried by a team that was top 3 in defense almost every year.

The dude sucked even worse come playoff time. Maybe the worst post season QB ever.
