it was Jamie Dukes and the other guys and they were saying where they "felt" he would sign with...and they were saying the saints will lose Grant and add Pepperss...also Jamie was saying Bush wouldn't be back probably. Sorry to lead you on like that I was a lil excited when I saw them say it. The other two team they were mentioning was the Patriots and Falcons but one of them was saying the Pats probably couldn't with the money they are about to give Vince W. their DT/NT.

Im sure he the Saints would be one of his choices with the offense we have and with Greg Williams as the DC and the commitment to keep improving the defense as well.

I guess nobody understands the new rules concerning UFA's (unrestricted free agents) this offseason.

The Saints would have to lose a player of Pepper's first year salary (or higher) BEFORE being able to sign him as a UFA.

The only player capable of garnering that kind of salary is Jammal Brown.

We won't be simply trading Grant for Peppers and magically Peppers will appear on the team. You can't trade for UFA's in much the same manner as trying to sign them without a trade.

So, as an example, let's say the reckless Redskins would offer $11 per year for Brown and since he is an restricted free agent (RFA), the Saints would have right of first refusal and have 7 days to match the offer and keep him. So let's say the Saints pass on signing Brown and the Redskins sign him, then the Saints could sign a player UP TO $11 million a year. Peppers might command more than that. Not sure. I don't see anyone throwing around $11 million at a player like Jammal Brown who didn't play a single down in 2009.

I'm with you, Izzy. I read the rules and I understand them as you have explained them, however alot of the talking heads keep bringing up the Saints as a probable destination for Peppers. There are 32 teams in the NFL and they are fairly consistent in saying that he may end up in NOLA.

Not sure if there is some sort of a loophole or what. There must be more to the rules than I am understanding.

Either that or they really are dipshiits.....
