ESPN is big on weekday games. Would they have any pull on making teams play on Thursday nights? They didn't end up spending that much money just to show possibly 1 more game per week. This may be bad news for LSU fans. And like red said, remember the Tulane game last year? 11:00 kickoff on ESPN2 And if some of you thought Verne and Danielson were bad, go back and re-watch that game...
Well where CBS gets 2 games every saturday, ESPN could potentially show 5-10 every week. So the 150 mil sounds about right, if not undershooting lol. At least thats what I gather out it
11 o'clock game on ESPN 2 or 11 o'clock game on regional LF... it's still 11 o'clock. Might as well be nationally televised! And the announcer comparision should not be with that of CBS, it should be with that of Lincoln Financial, since that's who the games are being taken from.
Agreed that both are bad. The only games that are going to be religated to that area are the ones versus Vandy, Kentucky, Mississippi State and the like. In the old days, those weren't even televised at all. We will have all of the Auburns, Floridas, Georgias on either primetime or CBS game of the week.
Here we go: http://www.secsports.com/index.php?s=&url_channel_id=3&url_article_id=11428&change_well_id=2 So it looks like we are looking at an extra night game per week with ESPNU, and then one 11:30 (central) game each week on ESPN Regional (I guess would be on CST here?). All of this in addition to the normal ESPN and ESPN night games. Additional good news: SECT in baseball will be on ESPN!
I believe that the day game broadcasts on ESPN are already regional "Hence the 'Or'" in the guide information. I don't think these will be aired on CST. This is a good thing any way you slice it. How many times have you had to watch fuzzy JP on Saturday mornings? If I have to watch a game at 11:30, I want the picture to at least be clear on my television.
