Not sure what that dipshit is basing that on, stats or just his general opinion. All I know is the guy was unbelievable. Built like a brick shithouse, tough and aggressive. Seemed to catch anything that was thrown to him. He is still the best LSU receiver ever in my opinion.
It wasn't his opinion because he didn't believe Reed was the best receiver in SEC history. He thought some cat named Tommy Beasley from AU was. Never heard of him, but he was from an era when the forward pass itself was considered innovative.
Terry Beasley was Pat Sullivan's #1 receiver when Pat won the Heisman. He was pretty good but not in the same class as Josh, Julio, AJ etc.
Aw come on, athletes didn't just get invented. Hell, if Jim Brown was born 18 years ago he'd be tearing up CFB today.
Fair enough. Typically though, today's athlete is bigger, stronger, and faster. Back then, if you ran a 4.7/40 you were considered to have blazing speed.
Things evolve no doubt, however if you took all of the best athletes of the past, put them in today's world of better dieting, better workout regimens, supplements and year round training I'm convinced they would have been just as big and strong as today's athletes.
The moral of the story being, if your offense is stagnant, making a change at QB at halftime can make a world of difference.
