He and his family are from Shreveport. His parents and youngest brother still live here. There are A LOT and I mean A LOT of people here that do not like them. I've never met any of them so I can't speak. But I can count on one hand how many people I've run into that said something good about them and would have to borrow an army full of extra hands to count the times I've heard bad things said about them.

by your "A LOT" reference, you have to take into consideration that quite a few people in Shreveport lump their hate for Evangel in with the Booty family as Josh and Abram were both integral players in Evangel's rise while their dad was a key Asst. Coach...and really, as far as dislike from people, fans and schools, Evangel has the lion's share of it in the Shreveport area for sure. I would also bet that there's plenty of people at Calvary who would probably give a glowing report about the Booty's...it's all perspective. The Bootys actually live about 2 houses down and across the street from my Mom and Step-Dad and I've never heard anyone in the neighborhood say an unkind word about them. And yes they have USC flag hanging from the front of the house. I can tell you from personal experience that I met Josh, Abram and Brock Berlin while they were still at LSU and Brock had just signed with Florida, all three were very polite. Josh and Abram had no problem signing my LSU schedule poster that I conveniently had in my office at work, Brock stood by quietly. Yeah, I've heard all the stuff about Josh and how he's an obnoxious a-hole and stand-offish, I'm sure some of that rep was well-earned as he was an 18 yr old not ready to handle the massive amount of money and "stardom" he came into. At the start of this season, John David was on the cover of SI and Mr. Booty either bought or was given several copies. JDB signed each one and they were offered to everyone on the street if they wanted...yes I got one and I don't feel bad about it, he's a good kid. Jake is the youngest of the four and is probably not as talented as either Josh or JD but he'll be fine either way if he's playing QB in college or just being a student. Anyways, I'm not in any way condoning his (Josh's) actions, believe me, just saying that the Bootys are not the "bad" people they're made out to be.
Amen. I've said many times what a great person JDB is and how well he's carried himself despite all the crap he's taken from some tacky USC fans for "average" performances. His parents are also very highly thought of out here.
The only problem i have with the Evangel and John Curtis of the world is they are allowed to recruit there kids and give preferential treatment to athletes. I never quite understood all the hate for the Booty's at LSU. I think LSU people treated the Booty family bad and i didnt really blame John David for going out of state. But since he went to USC i never pulled for him because i dont like USC. Josh and Abram were part of the LSU family and i wish them well.
I am sorry but the only thing i want to do when i read this story is to laugh. Can't wait for the video to be on a special edition of Cops: The Celebrity edition.
