A three star b-ball recruit doesn't mean as much as a three star football recruit. Also, why is LSU the bad guy for not recruiting this guy? What about the other schools that didn't offer?
You may be right about the press coverage, but I am very doubtful about recruiting. In my opinion, you recruit based on needs and talent - not because of the PR factor.
Its a two way street. More PR means High school players are noticing your school also. I think alot of kids would love to play basketball with MJ's son. I realize we do farely well in recruiting every year, but we seem to be one or two players away from the promise land. Hey, I can be perfectly happy making the Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final Four every year, but this year proved that one solid player can be a huge impact on our team. MJ's son may not be it, but the guy that wants to play with him and meet his dad may well be. Just remember my sig.
I saw him play in daddy's all-star game. Definitely not an SEC quality PG. Not worth a scholly, IMO. But when you continue to recruit non-SEC PGs, maybe it's time to consider a non-SEC PG with exceptional PR value. Of course, recruiting SEC PGs would be the real answer. Maybe that'll happen one day.
Maybe we only have room for two guys without SEC ability. If he could help us he would be at Carolina or Duke. I'm sure he recognizes his level of play and is not considering major programs. If he signed with LSU, within two years he would transfer and Brady critics would be whining that Brady ran off another quality player. We don't waste our time recruiting players, whether it be football or basketball, if there is not mutual interest.
....ahhhh...an identical quote was said of the elder Jordan when he was in high school, too. ...and look how that turned out?!
