JJ was suspended because he was involved enough in this to be arrested and charged with a crime. Distraction or not, when a kid get arrested, you have to suspend them, remove them from the team, and let the legal troubles work themselves out. Just like a DUI. You get a DUI, you get the suspension from the team. IF he is proven innocent or the charges dropped, then he might be allowed back on the team. Davenport and Landry, so far, have escaped charges from the police. They essentially broke curfew, were questioned by the police and deemed not involved enough to charge with a crime. They were punished internally with extra conditioning. To this point, I think Miles will allow Davenport and Landry to travel and play the first game. If they get arrested and charged later in the week, they will also be suspended. JJ was suspended because of the arrest and possible involvement in the fight, not to eliminate the distraction. Miles' credibility is on the line as well, he had no choice but to suspend JJ and Johns.

So going back to my original point/question. According to this article, it appears Jefferson and Johns could both still travel. How much credibility do y'all give this?

TigerRag - Miles reflects on chaotic week

This I don't understand, if they can't represent the University they should not travel, and I cannot believe Miles would allow that. I think Jefferson and Johns need to take focus on their personal lives right now and the the Tigers need to focus on Oregon.

I don't think there is any way JJ and Johns travel with the team. I think that is a huge stretch to take a suspended player(s) and allow them to travel. Is there not a limit to the number of roster players that can travel? Why take up a spot with a suspended player? JJ and Johns stay home. From watching Miles' press conference Friday, it seemed clear to me that he needed to remove them from the team so the team can focus and so they can concentrate on their legal troubles. I think the best Miles can do is fight to get them the right to practice with the team, since they have been charged but not convicted. Practice for both JJ and Johns would benefit them more than travel with the team, IF they get the legal issues behind them and can return to the team in good standing. Worst case scenario is Alleva says no travel AND no practice.

Well said. JJ is still a Tiger and we still need to support him. He's probably going through the toughest time of his life now. He made a mistake that a lot of us would have made, so I don't think it's fair to label him as a thug or an idiot. I just hope this doesn't bring him down in the future and that he can live a normal life.

Just by way of illustration and not because the facts have anything to do with the current situation:

I had a client, no prior arrests, who was found sleeping, naked, on a neighbor's couch. The front door was obviously kicked in. The vent on the A/C unit in the living room was torn off. When the cops arrived, my client couldn't stand, slurred everything he tried to say and smelled like a brewery. The only statement my client made was "My f'ing key wouldn't fit."

My client was arrested for unauthorized entry into an inhabited dwelling (a felony carrying a six year max) and simple criminal damage to property (a variable charge; he was popped on the mid-felony grade carrying a max of 2 years in prison).

This information was all in the police report and what I had to go on before I met with my client.

    What was the ultimate disposition?

Hint: When I got to talk to the arresting officer I asked him two questions: 1) did he give my client a breathalyzer test?; and 2) did anyone at the jail have my client seen by medical personnel? The answer to both questions were an emphatic "no."

No, I mean the LSU Code of Student Conduct says that students convicted of felonies are subject to dismissal from the university.

So if someone has a felony on his record, can they be admitted to the university?

Yep. I want guesses. Because right now, all we've got with the JJ squared matter is about the same level of facts.
