I completely get what you're saying, and If Lee had continued that second-half Auburn performance, we wouldn't be having this conversation...and we'd be at least 9-2 right now.

What I'm saying is...what are the chances that LSU has TWO schizophrenic QBs on skolly?? :hihi:

Personally, I don't think JJ is as good as J-Lee's best. But if he can be consistently above average, I'll take that hands-down.

What helps Jefferson . . . A LOT imo is that he only has one game left in the fire.

Lee played well and then teams found out his strengths and weaknesses and gameplanned accordingly.

Because he is a freshman and was frankly overwhelmed, he wasn't able to tinker and improve as much as he wanted and he got hurt:

    1. on the field with his play
    2. mentally

I am the biggest Lee guy here.

But I do not see a kid trying to make plays anymore.

I see a kid trying NOT to be intercepted.

    His confidence is shot.

It's the total 180 with JJ, because he has just 1 game to his season + a bowl.

So he will head into the offseason with a ton more confidence, which imo helps.

But the ball is definitely in JJ's court to do what Lee didn't do -- improve when the teams lock down on his weaknesses.

    We'll see.

This spring will be very, very competitive at that position with Mr. Shepard coming to town in a few weeks.

Clair, you got any info on Lee's injury? The replay looked like he turned that ankle over hard. I was surprised that he was walking on it during the game. Those ankle injuries are tough to get over.

I doubt he will be able to play Friday.

Not so much because he will not be ready physically, but because he will probably be out of practice at least until Tues-Wed, so do you want a freshman playing on the road in the SEC with no practice and/or gameplanning?

So for those reasons, I think it will be Jefferson with Lee in an emergency role at best.

I will have more tomorrow, though.

This is just amazing to me, you want to compare stats, but you dont compare performance. Lees Auburn pick was awful, Jefferson pick was the result of someone not catching the ball.

Wow, maybe you will admit that Jefferson showed a little more potential than Lee, but that maybe asking to much.

I compared the 2nd half of the Auburn game to Ole Miss.

Very similar set of circumstances as to how they became "the guy" for those 2 games.

I jumped on the Lee bandwagon after that half, because he showed amazing potential. The guy looked like a future All-SEC type QB. Lots of other people on here felt the same way.

Now Jefferson is thrown into the fire in yet another conference game. Show tons of potential, and looks like a future All-SEC type QB. Lots of people on here feel that way.

But before I fall for the same joke twice in one season, I want to see more. I want to see how he responds to be being the starter from snap 1. I want to see how he repsponds to having his opponent gameplan for pretty much just him for a week.

Lee had a complete mental breakdown in the weeks following. I want to see how JJ does from here on out before judging him (good or bad).
That is not a knock on JJ in any way shape or form. This is me being cautiously optimistic.

From your prior post, I didnt get the feeling that you were being cautiously optimistic. There was nothing optimistic about that post. You started off with
    Then you ended with
Where is the optimisim in that, where did you say he played well or he showed good potential?

I didnt see any of that.

Id sure like to see what you consider pessimissim.

Its funny how people read posts and garner different opinions of ones meaning. I certainly viewed Nootch's post as a cautious optimism. It didnt seem pessimistic at all.

Pumping eternal sunshine vs objectively viewing a situation is good for perspective. I think his point was objective and spot on.

Teams stacking 9 in the box, knowing we can't throw the football. That's what happened. Duh.

Did I say anything about eternal sunshine? I think my comment was that he played well and showed some good potential. That was great spin to put on it. Good job:thumb:

I never said he was greatest QB on the earth, even in my intial post during the game thread. I was cautious in my opinion of him.
