Exactly. I think Les was showing all the radio jocks and internet fans that he was going to swap quarterbacks whenever he damn well wants to. Which is a good thing! But his timing was poor and he put Jefferson is a bad spot. I have to put the booing blame on Les this time. Many of the boos were aimed at Les' decision and the ones aimed at Jefferson were because Les put Jefferson into a "boo me" situation. Of course, it may have been a Studrawa call, but Les gets the big paycheck and bears the big responsibility. All in all its no big deal. Jefferson got cheered when he came into the game again. All three quarterbacks played. All three will play the rest of the year.
My initial reaction was 'oh gawd'; mainly for the fact is was so early and I had flashbacks to last year with the 'chest beating'/ 'look what *I* did all by myself' attitude. I'm sure the whole team is very happy to have him back, and I'm sure not all fans feel that way. But, it's the TEAM that matters. Seeing *true* reactions from the *players* afterwards is much more indicative of how they feel than the PC worded/coached comments they have been allowed in pre/post game interviews. CLM *wisely* did not allow JJ any post-game interviews. Perhaps trying to take the 'focus' off of JJ and keep it on his 'damn strong team'. *If* there had been post-game interview with JJ it would have focused on 'the incident' and not on the game, the team (because.. well, you *know* how reporters are )
I do not live in Louisiana now, but I am still and will a be a LSU tiger for the rest of my life. I use to go to LSU games back in the 50,60, and 70's and NEVER booed a player for any team but the (bad calls got several boos from me and several of my friends who could better than the ref on the field. I live in Washington State now and tried to go to games at WSU,but it was not the same. The fans booed players from both teams, the stadium was only half full and there was no feeling like you get at LSU. NO true fan should BOO their team or the other team. If you need to boo stay home and boo.
I agree. Les reaffirmed his message that JJ WILL be part of this offense, and his special skills will be used accordingly. No popularity contest here. The boos may also help the team to back up JJ in addition to Lee, and therefore team solidarity. The dumb booing fans got to appreciate the whole picture: an improved and improving offense with Lee, and an experienced backup QB in JJ. Everyone has each others backs.
Jefferson scores and Mathieu causes more havoc as No. 1 LSU beats Kentucky 35-7 - The Washington Post
Acceptable occasions to boo: 1. Poor clock management at the end of a half or game (Ole Miss) 2. Chop block on one of our players (Auburn on Glenn Dorsey) 3. When the opposing team stomps on the "eye of the tiger" before, during or after a game (Auburn) 4. When the opposing team comes onto the field (Scratch that - we should be screaming "TIGER BAIT") Unacceptable occasions to boo: 1. When a Tiger player who hasn't been proven guilty of anything enters the game (yesterday) 2. When a player goes down with an injury (WVU last week) 3. When a Tiger player is on the field with his parents on Senior Day (Wade Richey) Acceptable occasions to cheer: 1. When the Tigers hit the field 2. When the Tigers score 3. When the defense makes a crucial stop Unacceptable reasons to cheer: 1. When one of your players goes down with an injury so the backup can get in the game (Jarrett Lee- Ole Miss 2008) No matter the situation there are going to be thousands in a stadium of over 90,000 that are going to act like idiots. These are the fans that won't be in the stadium if the Tigers go 8-5. Fair weather, bandwagon goons who think their opinion matters to the masses. Just my two cents....like my opinion matters to the masses :hihi:
one of the bandwagon goons near me who booed yesterday was the same one that last year, during the first game, stomped out at half time, bitching and blustering "i've seen enough!" because he didnt like the play calling. when that happened, i sat there in disbelief. yesterday, i wish he had done the same. it would have been "good riddance".
Hotheads. There are some serious hotheads in the stands at football games. Add rum and grog consumption to the equation and anything bad can happen. Alcohol fueled the boo-birds, at least in part, along with immaturity.
