This is HUGE...hopefully the key to the missing puzzle piece.
I am still rooting real hard for the Man. He's all we got right now!
He's come a long way since Destrahan!

So Jefferson has to hire a personal coach because LSU still doesn't have a QB coach.

Seriously though I'm glad someone is coaching this kid on the particulars like footwork. I wonder what happens if Crowton or Gonzales tells him something different. I bet Gonzales or someone put Jefferson in contact with this guy.

If this puts more distance between Jefferson and Gary Crowton in teaching the position, I'm all for it.

I doubt Gonzales had any contact with this guy given he is not from our area and Wyatt has a long history of helping LSU players and other players in the state and surrounding area.

Remember JJ is not getting any teaching from the LSU coaching staff in the offseason per NCAA rules so JJ basically has to seek out additional help by his own means.

Is this something QBs commonly do over the summer? Or is it usually just pick-up games and workouts?

A lot of them do get training on the side every summer. Like Shepard working with Jeff Blake since HS.

They also have on campus sessions with the WRs without coaches present.

this is great news, at least he is putting in alot of offseason work and has the work ethic that is needed to play quarterback in the SEC. Now lets hope it pays off.

Well this Wyatt Harris guy doesn't have any experience with coaching QBs. His resume includes: Robert Meachem (WR), Tracy Porter (CB), Chip Vaughn (S) and Greg Fassitt (CB). Devery Henderson (WR) and Marques Colston (WR) have also worked with him.

How would you think this guy would be a better QB coach than Crowton who has one of the best QB coaching resumes in the world?

My guess is this guy is coaching JJ to be a better athlete so he is better at running the option, etc. After all, the guy is a "speed and conditioning expert" -- not a QB coach. But who knows, maybe JJ got this guy to coach him to be a better WR or DB because that is his best shot for the pros, and maybe even at LSU.

One of the QB coaches out there that as a great a QB-coaching resume as Crowton is Steve Clarkson in California... he trains QBs all the time at his Academy. He has tutored Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Leinart, Matt Cassel, Terrelle Pryor, Gino Torretta, Matt Barkley, Jimmy Clausen, etc, etc. Joe Montana even sent his sons to train with this guy.

If you want to sent your kids to train with him, here is the link:
