You don't think JJ could have thrown for 3500 yards playing against North Texas 10 times a year?

JJ doesn't look too bad in a Tampa uniform

while JJ certainly had some horrible games, his overall career wasn't bad. his career stats are pretty much identical to Matt Ryan's stats his senior season before he was taken #3 overall in the Draft:

    Jordan Jefferson, Career at LSU
    398 of 678 (58.7%), 4,733 yards, 34 TDs, 20 INTs -- 128.0 rating (NFL would be 84.5)

Matt Ryan, 2007 (Senior year at Boston College)
    388 of 654 (59.3%), 4,507 yards, 31 TDs, 19 INTs -- 127.0 rating (NFL would be 83.9)

sure, if you just look at JJ's performance vs these five teams:

    2011 -- Georgia
2010 -- Vandy, West Virginia, Tennessee, Auburn

    you'll see he was:

    33 of 79 (41.7%), 277 yards, 1 TD, 7 INT -- 57.7 rating (18.8 in NFL)

but if you just look at JJ's performance vs the other 24 big-conference games he played:

2011: Alabama (Game 1), Alabama (Game 2), Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss
2010: Alabama, Florida, Arkansas, Texas A&M, North Carolina, Miss State, Ole Miss
2009: Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, Washington, Ole Miss, Vandy
2008: Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Ole Miss

    you'll see he was:

    299 of 518 (57.7%), 3,876 yards, 28 TD, 13 INT -- 133.4 rating (88.9 in NFL)

it is in LSU's best interest that our players make it in the NFL. its one of the biggest recruiting tools. it would be good to be able to tell future QBs recruits that we have 3 QBs in the league

JJ actually did well for his career vs Bama, better than Ryan Mallet and Tyler Wilson did:

    JJ vs Bama, career
    37 of 57 (64.9%), 375 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT -- 128.2 rating (NFL would be 88.0)

    Tyler Wilson vs Bama, career
    30 of 48 (62.5%), 243 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT -- 117.3 rating (NFL would be 78.7)

    Ryan Mallet vs Bama, career
    37 of 73 (50.7%), 517 yards, 2 TD, 4 INT -- 108.3 rating (NFL would be 60.1)

    Jarrett Lee vs Bama, career
    24 of 58 (41.4%), 316 yards, 1 TD, 7 INTs -- 68.7 rating (NFL would be 25.4)

My primary point was that Shaun King was a 2nd round draft pick and JJ wasn't drafted. I personally just do not see much similarity between the two. They played different styles of offense in college against vastly different competition. I'm guessing Jefferson has at least 2-3 inches (?) on King. King was drafted to be an eventual starter in TB while JJ is a long-term project.

I'll pull for Jordan Jefferson as long as he does not play the Saints. I have no animosity towards him at all. I'd rather see him shine as an unheralded UFA and represent the Tigers in the pros than see him become a drafted player that never lived up to expectations.

    Hope he does well.

Personally, I feel that Jefferson should have been a linebacker.

Shaun King was a prolific passer at Tulane especially in his final season when he led Tulane to an undefeated record. He also basically had the Bucs win a playoff game that was robbed from them by a horrible call by the refs on a legitimate catch they nullified that is still discussed to this day.. King was a bright guy and a pretty good passer. Was he athletic? Sure, but teams feared his passing ability first and foremost. He went from being the triggerman for a high-flying offense under Tommy Bowden and Rich Rodriguez at Tulane to a system at Tampa where he fed the ball to the running game and relied on their stout defense to win games.

There really are very few similarities between the two players.

He looks a lot skinnier than he did at LSU. Maybe that's it's just him without pads, but he looks like a WR in those pics

Yeah, but you have to compile his stats for an entire career to equal what one dude did in a single season.

What would be great is if San Diego and Tampa Bay both make it to the Superbowl next year with their 1st & 2nd string QBs getting injured in the playoffs. Then we have a JLee vs JJ showdown to settle the score once and for all. And Tiger Nation would implode on itself.

Gold I tell you, pure gold. You should write a book with that scenario.
