Because he owns the equipment. Furious Hanshaw vows knockout! Roy Jones Jr. bars foe from hotel gym Tony Hanshaw is furious at Roy Jones Jr., his Saturday night PPV opponent, after Jones ordered hotel officials and security at the host IP Casino-Resort-Spa not to let Hanshaw and his training team use the ring and other boxing equipment which had been set up for both fighters. When Team Hanshaw went to train in the hotel-casino Monday, they were barred by an armed security guard who told them the premises were "off-limits" to anybody except Roy Jones Jr. The boxing ring and the various bags are all owned by Jones who trucked them over from his Florida home. Hanshaw had to take a 40-minute ride each way through heavy traffic to train at the Gulfport Boxing Gym. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "We fly in from Las Vegas and they tell us we are barred from the training center," the usually soft-spoken Hanshaw said. "What kind of nonsense is that? Is this the great, legendary Roy Jones who pretends to be a classy gentleman or is this Roy Jones the egomaniac who thinks he is running boxing?....He got knocked out by Tarver and Johnson and now he is going to get knocked out by me!" Hanshaw's trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. added, "[Jones] is glass-chinned bum who will get starched by my Tyger in six rounds. He's not even in Biloxi today, he's over in Pensacola playing basketball and he wouldn't let us use the gym? He thinks it is all about Roy but what it's really all about is Tony knocking this guy out. Good riddance to bad rubbish I say!"
One of my best friends Troy Beets is fighting on Roy Jones Jr.'s undercard. He hurt his back training, but he says he's still gonna fight. Keep your eye peeled for him and show him some support!
You should go. It's right down the road from you at the coliseum. It should be relatively cheap, too. Unfortunately, I will be in Pensacola for the weekend, but hopefully I will be able to get somewhere to watch the fight on TV. I hope they show Troy's fight on PPV.
I may go out there without a ticket like I do for the Tiger games. When Roy fought in New Orleans a few years ago, we got tickets for $20. They were good $100 seats. Will be on the lookout for Troy. When did he turn pro?
Did you hear about Troy's escapades the other night when he was out with Mark and Jed (when they all shaved their heads)? I wonder if that's how he hurt it.
I heard. He hurt it hitting the bag while training. ...Since Mark's an attorney, don't post anything incriminating on here that can be used against any of them!
