I think Miles has been on the hotseat with fans since the day he arrived in Baton Rouge. And most of the fans have played the Saban's jilted lover role perfectly in the years since. I like Miles, but honestly, we simply must improve this year over the past two years. Our offense the past two years has been super ugly, and I hope we can turn that around. I hope that having a junior QB will finally help us out, though, apparently, the spring game was not good (I didn't even know it was on.) I wish I was more optimistic about the upcoming season, but I'm just not sure what product will be on the field. I think Miles can get off the hotseat with "most" fans if he wins the West this season. And if he wins the West, he should be able to win the SEC. Anything less, and the talk will continue, and I won't even feel that great about Miles, either.
This is pretty much spot on with what appears to be the sentiment of many LSU fans, and the media. I would add I don't think that he will get off the "unappreciated with nor respect" hot seat even if he wins another MNC. The mega negatigers will say he did it in spite of himself, that if he hadn't added the new O asst coordinators, and the new D coordinators we wouldn't have done it. That despite Miles the team only won because of the talent we have and the assts we have.
Maybe, but it would be an extremely shaky leg for them to stand on. It's been debunked time and time again, but most of those fans think Miles won with Saban's kids. Another MNC would put the final nail in that coffin. That's the thing about sports: winning tends to solve a lot of your problems, especially wins over the "jilted lover" who coaches in your own division.
May have been covered in another thread and probably extensively, but since I'm not in the Baton Rouge or surrounding AO, what's the word on the new passing game coordinator? Good, bad or too early to tell?
I will agree that if Miles comes short of 10 wins, he will be gone. He gets too much money for anything less than 10 wins IMO....
Too soon to tell, really. We can't really conclude anything from the spring game. All the buzz I've heard has been positive, and Jefferson has said that he's learned a lot from Gonzales. I've heard stories about how he'll run the routes himself with his receivers to show them what they should be doing. Honestly, anything has to be an upgrade from McCarthy with the WRs. And after all he did coach Percy Harvin. The big question I still have is how much of a role he ultimately has in player development and offensive scheming. Crowton is still the OC, and Jefferson has said Gonzalez and Crowton have both been coaching him. Shep looked like he was still struggling with his hands in the spring game, but I think he'll be all right there. So at this point there's no way of knowing how effective he's been.
I would hate to see LSU firer Coach Miles, because Coach Miles is a great recruiter. Coach Miles is a winning football coach as well. To me a bird in the hand are worth two in the bushes. Who is out there that will come to LSU? The two I like will not come to LSU (Butch Davis and Nick Satan). Look how long did it took LSU to get back on top of the SEC, from Coach Mac to Coach Satan. Like I said from the start, a bird in the hand are worth two in the bushes. LSU better have a top notch coach waiting in the wings if they make a move on Coach Miles. !twocrystals! !twocrystals!
