Listening to sports talk the other day and they were discussing some potential candidates should Miles be shown the door next year and Gruden's name was mentioned and I have heard his name mentioned several times when discussing replacements for Miles.

So my question is this. What makes people think that Gruden would be interested in a college job when surely it is just a matter of time before he gets back into the nfl?

I agree that he would probably never coach here or any college.
Jim Harbaugh would be one of my first choices.

Our next coach, when ever that maybe, is hopefully of the defensive mindset. Defensive guys tend to be fiery discipline types. But, if it is an offensive mind, hopefully it's some crazy **** like Mike Leach

I find it hard to believe Les Miles would be let go for any reason under the circumstance, this economy.
It sounds like the funds are getting thin at LSU these days although I believe the athletic department funds msy come from its own department.

I'm not sure if its better having a players coach vs a dictator?

I honestly wouldn't understand Why Gruden would want to come here?
He has coached pro football and won the Superbowl.

How Well Does Joe Alleva Know Jon Gruden?

If he doesn't know him at all, he needs to start getting to know him.

Based on the last two football seasons and an embarrassing spring game (especially for QBs and DLs), LSU will be lucky to have a 2-3 record before they leave for Gainesville in October.

By that point, Miles's fate will be sealed, and LSU will need to have a new coach waiting in the wings.

I can't think of a better hire than Jon Gruden. A tough, fiery, workaholic, Super Bowl-winning coach that would garner headline after headline and totally change the culture of what has become a very average football program. :tigereye:

Why do you care? You haven't had a positive thing to say about LSU in 4 years. Would Gruden suddenly make you a happy camper? I doubt it. You would be bitching about him before his 1st game.

Really? You care about a spring game? Really?

It's just a scrimmage. Every team has poor QB play in these things.
