yeah... he is the one who brought it on himself, talking about the big fight they had in the press conference.
The PGA has to put an end to this at some point. I mean he is talented and all, but he is making a complete mockery of what is supposed to be a "gentleman's game".
I think the media needs to take his personal life out of it. He doesnt do anything in front of fans or on the course to make a mockery of the game. He is a fan favorite and a nice guy. All of his problems come off of the course and it should stay there. There is a reason he is such a popular guy and the most popular pro-am partner -- he is fun to be with and a good guy between the ropes. He needs to clean up his personal life but not because it is diminishing the tour.
He has been seen smoking cigarettes during play of a sanctioned PGA event. He has scatch marks on his face. He admits to all of his demons. Gene Sarazan, Bobby Jones, Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan, Walter Hagan, Sam Snead and Harry Vardon are all rolling over in their graves.
Cigarettes? :hihi: Tons of players smoke on the course. Smoking while playing golf has been around forever and smoking isnt illegal anyways. It isnt a good habit, but neither is Tiger's yelling on the tee box. Neither really matter. Off the course. Tons of people have demons...he doesnt bring them to the course. Once he does then we have a problem. Why? Everyone has problems off the course. He plays with class and does a lot for youth golf and charities.
Or you can just admit his off the course problems dont interfere with the PGA and they shouldn't punish him like you said. The problems may hurt his game, but many other golfers go through the same thing. Dont let the media confuse you. If anything, he is is good for the PGA. I have gone to dozens of PGA Tour rounds and have never met an offended fan. Stop being ignorant. You dont have to look up to him, and you know I didnt say that. You can just look up to someone else...haven't you heard, some Toms character is a big fan...
The Daly apologists amaze me. Class and Daly in the same sentence. Pleasssssse. Is it classy to flub a chip shot, watch the ball roll back to your feet, take several one armed, half assed attempts to hit the moving ball before picking it up and walking to the next tee? Is class failing more second chances than Steve Howe? Is class being the Tour leader in WD's, DNF's and DQ's? Is class "mailing it in" enough times to make you the poster child for the US Postal Service? Is class stiffing The King who gave you a sponsors exemption into his invitiational tournament by failing to show up for the Pro Am? Give it a rest. John and his "act" grew tiresome a long time ago.
