The Steelers released Joey Porter. The Saints need a linebacker. That would be a good 2-year fit for the Saints. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2784626
No friggin way. I don't see Payton dealing with his ego and antics. Nor do I want a presence like his in the locker room.
There must have been a bunch of stories about him that I don't remember. I don't recall him being a bad team guy or anything of the nature. I think he'd be a great addition for just about every team in the league, unless they already have four fast, strong, good-handed, solid-tackling LBs.
Id take him. He brings an attitude with him and he creates unity within a defense, not tear it apart. Just because he is outspoken doesnt make him bad.
I'd take a loud mouth who can play over a quiet guy who can't. And the Saints linebackers outside of Fujita are just that... Quiet guys who can't play.
Well fine then. :bncry: EDITED TO ADD: It just seems like with the amount of trash talking that he's known for, it would kind of undermine Payton's "one voice" mentality for the team. We all know what happens to those players...
Well Porter wasn't on the market long. The Dolphins made him an offer he couldn't refuse. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2789401
ridiculous amount by the dolphins but at least hes proven compared to these no-name offensive linemen making crazy jack. I would have gone after adalius thomas for this amount. porter with 12 mill signing bonus. this is looking awfully familiar to baseball and contracts to nobodies that are sky-high. i guess you have to pay the best of the rest regardless if you want them. who is the next gil meche. step on up.
