There is going to be a HUGE civil suit coming against Penn State University. Maybe 8 or ten huge lawsuits. Penn State has a $1.5 million endowment and they are going to lose a really big chunk of it.

    Actually this wasn't any disagreement.

Did you see the joke he posted regarding Sandusky? And I know you have been most vocal in your disgust over what has transpired with these child molestations.

That was his input into this thread? Really?

That's what I was thinking. Although those suits may not bankrupt the university, Penn State will hurt for a while.

    And rightfully so.

    Hope the victims get theirs.

EVERYONE is going to get fired.

But yes, the media is going to focus on the big fish, that's a given.

In an ideal world, McQueary would have stopped the rape, taken the child to the police, and then reported it to the coach.

But this was a student at the time, shocked at what he had seen, and likely worried that his word would not be taken over the coach's. He panicked and left before reporting the incident to three superiors. I can cut him some slack for panic, but not for being part of the cover-up. He knew that the police had never been called.

He retired suddenly in '99 because he got caught in '98 and PSU was sweeping it under the rug. At least one incident was while he was coach and PSU knew about it.

Paterno's statement "I should have done more" says it all to me. He was aware of it, and made a concious decision to turn a blind eye. I hope he spends the rest of his days rotting in jail.

Wasn't he a 28 yr old student? Old enough to do the right thing.

I would think that when everyone gets fired that there will be plenty of assistants that knew nothing about this that will lose their jobs also. These people will also be linked to Penn state and carry that with them. They may not be able to land a job because of it. There will be plenty of pain to go around I'm sure.

I don't get how the grad assistant didn't call the cops as soon as he saw the rape happening. Stop the rape of the child and call the cops asap.
