It's insane how old Paterno is:

Paterno, seen here with brother at Brown in the late 40's

He is so old that they have already built a statue in his honor right outside the football stadium:

Florida State did the same thing with Bobby Bowden, who is now 79.

where are all the yahoos saying he was washed-up just last year or year before? hiding in their caves waiting until he has a down 8-4 year. maybe les and nick are too old as well with their 7-5 and 6-6 seasons recently.

Jo Pa is a GOD. Dude was old school before there was even an old school. I just have the impression he wants to die on the field. In a twisted way, I kind of hope he does. It would befit the dedication he has for his school and the game. He is the field general and everything that position embodies.

I remember the game where students were tossing snow balls on the field. Dude runs over there and shook his finger and like 10,000 people point to the hose bags doing the throwing. Impressive.

Just don't break check the dude, serious.

I've thought that there is a good chance the guy dies on the field.

Heck, in 2006, he had his leg broken on the sidelines of the game at Wisconsin.

Then this year, he had hip replacement surgery after he threw out his hip while giving an on-side kick demonstration in practice.

Penn State isn't going to know what to do without him.

It's going to be tough for anyone to follow him... It's the only place he has ever coached.

    59 years. Wow.
