Since the previous Joe McKnight thread seems to be mostly about Saban and Alabama now, I thought I would post this under a new thread.
Hope that is OK -- I have only been here a short time, so please forgive me if starting this new thread is a major problem for folks on this board.

From today’s Memphis, TN Commercial Appeal:
    www.commercialappeal.com/...51,00.html
(you may need to copy and paste – I seem to always have trouble with this)

The Commercial Appeal is reporting that McKnight is visiting Ole Miss this weekend and had a good in home visit with Ole Miss coaches.

The article is mostly about McKnight and how his family, life and football career were affected by Hurricane Katrina. If you can’t connect or find the article, here are some quotes:

“Joe McKnight will take the first step of his official recruiting odyssey when he arrives on the Ole Miss campus this weekend.”

“… Ole Miss will be his first official visit. He plans to visit Southern California on Jan. 19 and LSU on Jan. 26. Arkansas, Texas and Alabama are among the schools he also is considering. Asked what he likes about Ole Miss, McKnight said: ‘It's the SEC."

“(Coach J. T.)Curtis said McKnight enjoyed his in-home visit with Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron and running backs coach Frank Wilson, both of whom have Louisiana roots. Wilson spent six years as a high school coach in New Orleans, and he also spent a year as director of athletics for the city's public school system before Orgeron hired him. ‘I think they just kind of opened Joe's eyes to something that was a little closer to home, but not too close," Curtis said. "I think that was appealing."

I will fall off my chair if Joe goes to Ole Miss. Why would someone who could pick any school they wanted pick a downtrodden school that has no shot at a title. I have to think the big O is a good recruiter though, he does get a lot of visits and turns heads, but LSU keeps beating him out. For example, Keiland Williams was actually high on them at one point last year.

There is no way. I don't know why is he is even wasting everyone's time. I think this is a courtesy visit that JT Curtis has fanagled because of his connections with Frank Wilson.

I doubt Joe is seriously considering Ole Miss. However, I do fear that Coach O is recruiting for USC. From his perspective, he'd much rather a recruit go to USC than LSU if he can't get them.

Yeah, that's what you call a 'pity visit.' Free hotel or something. Why not?

If he wanted a free hotel room, the last place he should go is to Oxford, MS. Miami, maybe...UCLA, great....But not Ole Miss. A free hotel room there means getting put up at Billy Bob's Podunk Inn...

Nice looking women there, though. I know, I married one, and converted her to Tiger-ism. Ever seen an Ole Miss alum cheer for LSU? It's a beautiful sight!
