Ah yes, and the parting shots are away: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2784681 I figured it was only a matter of time before he started running his mouth about it, which is very unfortunate. I think it's interesting how he has always said that he understands that this is a business, but now he's making it personal. I'm starting to think there was a lot going on in the locker room that we don't know. Maybe LeCharles Bentley was right.
Typical Joe... Yes Joe you are the only reason that New Orleans still has the has the Saints. Thank you and good luck with your new team, tell Willie Roaf's wife and your kid I said hi.
its simply about money and he is basically washed up because hes at that point in his career. he cant really separate anymore and likely wont be healthy for part of the year. you can almost book it. payton knows all this and did what he had to do. he already proved he can win without horn so its just sour grapes. and the reason we arent in san antonio is paul tagliabue not joe horn but i respect him for what he did for city and speaking out. now he just needs to act like a pro instead of like an idiot even though hes an emotional dude and his ego has to be suffering. yesterday and no we dont want him.
Looks like it was a very easy decision to cut Joe after failing his physical. http://community.foxsports.com/blogs/adamschein Today, it was rumored to be cut yesterday. Smartass :thumb: He is the #1 WR free agent at this time. The other possibilites would be McCardell or Bryant from the 49ers. Right now I would take him if he passes a physical and if he is expected to practice before the season http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6522406
he cleaned out his locker yesterday. today was the formality. not that it matters just pointing out payton probably isnt swapping horn for another gimpy receiver. though its obvious we need another top wideout. who is that dude the jags were gonna cut. had to look--ernest wilford out of va tech was supposed to be released i read at the end of the season but im not sure that will happen. hes not great but would be a good fit as a 4th wr in this offense.
horn and his agent already talking with the dirty birds. would be a good fit as they need receivers in the worst way. bobby hebert must have given him advice. http://www.ajc.com/services/content.../0303joehorn.html?cxtype=rss&cxsvc=7&cxcat=21
Horn has always been good for a sound bite, but there's always been a lot of smoke with him being a handful behind the scenes. Tirk's right about this being sour grapes. "I wanted to retire in New Orleans...boohoo...Payton must hate me...sniffle sniffle...this is a hatchet job...whine whine...anybody got Mrs. Roaf's new cell number?" If he wants to retire as a Saint, nothing is stopping him.
Drew Bennett would be a solid pickup at WR. I know he's a lot like Colston being big and physical, but I'd take him as a solid #2.
I think ultimately the Saints get Stokley. I think he will look around and see that no one wants him for big $, because of age and fragile bones, then he will go home at a cheap price. He got hurt last year, but let's not forget that he lost a child before the season, which probably had an affect in him not being mentally "in it." and it's like my coach always would say; if your head is in it less than 100%, you will get hurt 100% of the time.
