yes, bush is awful, i agree. so is obama. but you are the one telling me the government has to protect us from high prices. thats how we get into these messes.
again, you do not dictate to anyone what a fair price is. it is not relevant why something costs what it does. you either buy it or you dont. stop buying things you cannot afford. do not use the force of the government to beat down the other guy in your exchange of goods and services. i dont come to your work and force you to sell your labor for less.
But Martin, that is the liberal war cry. "You have somethign that I want but can't afford it and it just isn't fair" " I want one and you have to buy it for me".
I wonder what he would think if the government caused his pot to be twice as expensive and half as potent? I bet he wouldn't like the government then.
correct. and this is a particularly insane philosophy in america where even the poor can really afford to own way more "stuff" than they need. we are like a nation of idiots like those folks on that show "hoarders". we have to own so much stuff. friends, happiness doesnt come from owning things. i have a friend, and he was recently complaining about rent prices. a very liberal friend. and across the street they are building a multi0use building with special units for low-income people. and i told him that those low-income units were obviously making his prices higher by rducing the numer of market-rate units. and he still wanted the government to control his rent. and he is an attorney, and we were drinking whiskey on his rooftop deck at his $3800 chelsea apartment. everyone has the "me wanty" attitude.
I would grow it myself. And did you just miss the whole spill about me questioning speculations and hedging bets for and against commodities which tremendously raise prices?
I think this is responsible for 80% of why I despise liberals the way I do. Well other than the fact that they are just effing stupid, is their woven into the fabric of their being that if Mr. Green works hard for something, Mr Jones is entitled to part or all of it. They just feel in their hearts that this is alright and any attempt to convince them otherwise will meet with accusations of wanting to kill old people and letting folks starve and all sorts of other silly crap. Yeah, effing stupid they are.
exactly my friends here in new york, lots of them are really liberal east coast types. and they think of me as the backward southern guy. and they play this card you mention all the time. "you dont want universal health care?!! you hate poor people with cancer and want them to die!!" always an attemtp to reach the moral high ground. its never about reality with liberals. the problem they are trying to solve is not the actual problem, but the problems with their own mind. telling themselves they care, making sure they feel good about themselves.
The "market" has NEVER been left alone. Free Market economics is a myth, just like capitalism. No country has ever run a pure free market economy. Man will find a way to manipulate anything in his favor, which is why regulation is necessary.
