I am 100% sure that if GC and Miles let JJ throw he ball 30 times last night, we would not be talking about his 97 yard game.. I could post stats and links, but take my word for it that JJ needs at least 25 attempts to get that magic number we all want which is at least 200 yards passing.. That is all. :geaux:
As do most QBs. I agree with you here. People are looking at that 97 yds, but failing to factor in the number of attempts. Just like folks say the RBs need to "get into a rythym", doesn't that apply to a QB as well? How can he get into a rythym when he only throws 16 times in a game? JJ has exceeded 200 yds/game before, because in those games, LSU had to pass. So far this season, we haven't had to pass. I'm afraid that until we do have to pass, we won't see anything different. Fortunately, I'm confident that if/when we do have to, JJ can do it. The Vandy game was an anamoly...I hope.
I'm 100% sure it's been brought up 100 times already. You need to get a life and live on here like the rest of us.
Hell, I just had to go edit one of my posts in another thread to 'NM', because I had already quoted and posted on the same post earlier in the thread.
That's dedication, others could learn from your example. I'm going to take a break for a couple, I'm sure people are tired of seeing my user pop up, hell I hate seeing it.
6 yards per pass attempt is not the worst stat in the world. It's not good by any means, either. You want to be in that 7-8 yards per attempt area preferably. Anything above that would be outstanding. Hard to say how the stats would have looked had he attempted 25-30 passes. The one stat line that stands out with Jefferson is the limited number of interceptions he has had throughout his career. Normally that is a great indication of good QB play, but in this case it's a timid QB who does not feel comfortable throwing it into "tighter" spaces. Thus the indecision on his part, thus the breakdown in pass protection ultimately, yada yada yada. We don't want him throwing interceptions, but at what cost are we achieving that result?
It's not the 97 yards that bothers me. It's the fact that we had to kick 5 field goals.... If we'd come away with more 7's than 3's then this game would have been even less close than it was. As an added note, it is nice to have a kicker we can count on.
