This is the only logical explanation I can see as to why Lee isn't starting. Maybe Lee is more comfortable coming in a couple series into the game. It gives him a chance to determine weakness in the opposing defense while he's on the sideline, as opposed to doing it in the huddle. This way he's more prepared and effective when he does enter the game. I don't have a problem with this, but the only drawback is that you can't go 3 and out very many times against an offense like Auburn, and this year JJ has a propensity to do just that. I know our defense is badass but even so, helping them out a little bit and keeping Auburn (Newton) off the field makes a big difference in the long run, and it gives Lee a chance to study their D a little bit before taking snaps.
I don't have a problem with this because our D is playing awesome. It is not a good think if you are down 10 or 14 nothing because of turnovers.
Been essentially saying this for three weeks now in various posts. Marcus Randle was the same way his last year. :thumb:
That may be true, but even if it is, I don't think it's a good strategy. I mean, Lee may be a slow starter, but Jefferson is just dreadful and turnover-prone. So what difference would it make if Lee is in the game, having a slow start? It's not like JJ is going to march us down the field. It's the same result. Moreover, he can see the tendencies and nuances of the defense better from the LOS than the sideline. Getting him in the game from the get-go would only give him an earlier start in finding his rhythm. But, I applaud your efforts to feel better about it. I wish I could be that optimistic. I've been pissed about it all day long.
It's not working. We should not attempt to improve the offense because the defense and special teams are good? Let's just wait until we lose 2 games before we try to make the offense work at 100% efficiency. We can't make adjustments after 1 loss because that's just a fluke.
With all Lee has been through since '08, I don't see him quiting or leaving over something as stupid as that, if he was going to leave it'd have been after he was cheered for getting hurt and all those games being boo'd. Imo, Lee is using this as fuel to play better personally, and in the end the results will show true who the better football player is, he's still young with a lot of inexperience... he is going to make some mistakes, throw INTs, get sacked and maybe fumble a few times... comes with the territory of the position. But Lee will stick around and he'll be successful in the end.
7-0 ....... JJ started every game. I only have a problem with sticking to a "rotation" when or if we fall behind. So far so good. I think all have presented their feelings and reasoning behind why JL should start and play all game vs all other JJ playing scenarios. All sound reasonable. I just hope we get first possession so we cant be down 7 when JJ runs out on the field for the first time with us down 7 and the crowd going wild. I might get physically ill at that point.
