Starting the game is simply for vanity only. I could honestly care less. You see Reggie Bush start every single game for the Saints, but we all know who gets the bulk of the carries art RB. Who 'starts' is meaningless.
Hey, we all want this team to do well. I don't put much stock into stats, they are commonly misleading. I go by what I see, and they both made critical plays. I have faith in the two based on their combined performances the last couple of games. Who ever gets the job done, that's my guy. All I'm saying is trust the hat, he knows a lot more than we give him credit for. :geaux:
No disrespect...but you have to be the only person in the world I have ever heard say that who starts at QB isn't a big concern....on any team....on any level. I always want the best player on the field...ESPECIALLY at the position of QB. If J-Lee is the guy you trot out in the SWAMP to march down the field to win the game in the final seconds..then he should be the guy you trot out on the field in the first seconds of the game as well.
The only fact I see from your post is that you didn't watch the games if you think JJ is the only reason the games were close.
Well actually there isn't much other reason for us to allow Tennessee to hang around, WVU to hang around, to have a 10-3 lead in the 4th vs Vandy and the Florida game to not be a total blowout.
This plus 50 million. You start Lee because he has earned it, he is clearly better, and considering what he's achieved and how he's carried himself, vs. how Jefferson has played and how he's carried himself, it is just the right thing to do. Les has to do right by this kid, and stop coddling Jefferson. I can't believe the opinion on this board that Jefferson will be psychologically shattered if he is benched and that's why Les keeps playing him. Are you kidding me? This is a nearly-grown man we are talking about. Welcome to life, son. In addition to red's "incentives must have rewards" statement, I'll add this; mistakes and failures must have consequences. If he can't take the medicine, he doesn't need to be leading this team anyway. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if this QB derby ends before the 2011 season, with either Lee at Stephen F. Austin or Jefferson at Southern. Be honest, right now, which would you fear the most?
Yes, well without JJ running over 100 yards we lose to Tenn. Florida was close because of breakdown in special teams (PPs fumbled punt, allowing td on kick off). Penalties were a huge problem in the WVU game that both killed our offense and allow the Mountaineers to have some offense. Vandy, maybe you got a point on that one other than receivers dropping balls. I'm just saying that JJ was not the sole cause of the close games.
It would not be the first time a player performed better coming off the bench. Just happens sometimes. Maybe that is the deal with JL. As long as it works ..... ldskule:
I think my point is that I don't think we have a true starting QB. We may need to keep going with the two-headed monster at present. Our weak point on this team is our QB, though JL has looked better than JJ most of the time (in the two games he's seen action). If JL continues to improve, then, yes, I'd like to see him be the starter. Our problem the past 2 seasons is that our QB play has ranged from embarrassingly bad to mediocre. No one has separated himself just yet. But we're winning...
I understand where she's coming from- even agree somewhat. It's not like baseball or softball where the starting pitcher has other considerations such as re-entering, pitch counts, etc. Not that I agree with starting JJ but for all practical purposes they're both "starters". Think about it in terms of the linemen we rotate in and out.
