I get your point, but folks are ready to annoint Lee after two weeks of gutsy, sometimes good, performances. I don't really care who our starter is as long as we keep winning games. We may, in fact, need both of those QB's sharing snaps to be as successful as possible. But if we are successful doing that, why change it?
i suspect that clm had invested so much capital in jj that he feels he has no choice but to play it out this way. as others have said, lee is now getting meaningful snaps, is producing results, and looks good so far. what happens when lee starts, throws 2 int and fumbles a snap? where do you go from there? i would rather have the current system (albiet with more series for lee) than to have a rotating door at the starting qb position i think it is important that the team have confidence in the decisions the staff makes regarding personnel. to remove jj as starter when he hasn't lost a game sends the wrong message p.s. - can i have stacy's wine and cigs if she doesn't want 'em? thanks
When lee is qb I feel inspired. I am confident we will score. I am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the next play. When jj is qb I am holding my breath and putting my hands over my eyes every time he throws the ball. Lee makes me want to watch jj makes me hide my eyes. Lee makes me proud of this offense and jj makes me curse at the tv. Lee makes us look like champions and jj makes us look like pretenders. With lee I'm waiting for the 30 yard strike for the first or even a td. With jj I'm waiting for the train wreck. With lee we look like championship contenders and with jj we look overrated. With lee we have an offense with potential with jj we just get by. This team is better with lee and worse with jj. We would score more points with lee. There is no reason to play jj except we may need him if lee gets hurt. I don't want to seem like I hate this team. I don't. I have just lost faith in jj and feel the tigers would win a nc if he would get out of the way. I know the wolves will come out to slam me for saying this but this is how I see it.
Stacey, I understand from a fan's point of view as long as the offense "goes" and we win, we do not really care who starts the car. But let me put it a different way... If you and your colleague work on a project for a year and both of you bust your butt to build a great sales presentation for your client, then come presentation day, your boss chooses to let your colleague make the first impression and pitch the company's project. You are probably disappointed but understand you got a fair shot and the boss made the best decision for the company. The presentation does not go well, but this was a low level meeting with your client and you move on up the line to bigger decision makers. The next meeting your boss again leaves you in the waiting room while he and "the other guy" go in for the pitch. Only this time, with time running out, the boss is desperate because he is about to lose the account and comes outside and says "Hey Stacey we need you in here". Stacey goes in, well prepared, confident and hits the ball out of the park. Meeting saved, the boss congratulates you and you now have a new meeting with the marketing team. Next week for the meeting with the marketing team, Stacey is left in the waiting room again and the boss brings in "the other guy" to pitch the client. Near the end of the meeting the boss comes into the waiting room sweating and says "Stacey I need you to come in and close this deal for me". Stacey goes in, cleans up the mess, organizes the key points, communicates clearly and Wholoa!!! Meeting is a success. The boss hugs you because you now have a meeting next week with your client's Vice President. Next week, same scenario. Stacey is left in the waiting room to see if "the other guy" can deliver the pitch in a manner strong enough to get a meeting with the client's President. Guess what... boss comes out to the waiting room and brings Stacey in again with 2 minutes left and 80 yards to go. Stacey AGAIN gets it done. Next week for the big pitch to the client's President, the boss leaves Stacey in the waiting room again to see if "the other guy" can get it done. Stacey "says" she does not mine having to sit in the waiting room to see if "the other guy" can get it done. But do you believe her? If you are Stacey; you know you belong in the board room first. I, as fan, want to see Stacey start off in the board room.
I'm by no means "anointing" JLee. I've said on multiple occasions that he WILL make mistakes. Some of them will cost us. My main concern right now is that JLee get enough snaps to work out some of his mistakes so they won't cost us AS BAD. You're definition of successful is a bit off. It's not that the 2-QB system is working and is successful. It's just that reducing the amount of snaps JJ got has improved our offense. JJ hasn't "worked". JLee has. I posted the drives from both QB's through the past 2 games and it's clear one QB is playing far superior to the other right now. The thought that we need both QB's is a fallacy. If JLee goes down having JJ take half his snaps now won't matter because JJ won't be able to lead our offense successfully anyway (without JLee we'd be 4-2 right now). This is clear by the fact that Miles doesn't trust JJ in a 2 minute offense, and instead has asked the backup QB two games in a row to come off the bench and lead the team to victory. My concern is that this 2-QB system will actually HURT our team more the further this season goes. The only thing splitting the snaps 50/50 does is slow down JLee's ability to progress as a QB. Giving Lee 80% of the snaps in the game and getting him throwing 20 - 25 times against McNeese will go a long way in getting him ready for the SEC gauntlet we're about to go through.
Don't you mean "if"? The way I see it JJ threw 2 INTs against TN, killed multiple drives, heck he even spotted Florida at least 7 points and he's still starting. So what makes you think IF Lee were to have the start like you're saying Miles wouldn't stick with him? Also, wouldn't it make sense for JLee to get whatever "first start" bugs he might have out against McNeese instead of asking him to do it against Bama?
