Great play, what concerns me though is the lack of ball control drives. You can't depend on the big play to win games. First TD - 8 plays (good), 2nd TD - 1 play, 3rd TD - punt return, 4th TD - 1 play. Only one drive of more than 8 plays, resulted in a punt. I disagree about JJ's slowness not affecting the offense. There were instances where receivers were open and by the time he threw, it was late and the balls could of and should of been intercepted.
Nice play. Freshman Mywan Jackson got hurt on the previous possesion and we burned a redshirt for #10 Tre Boston to replace him at that corner spot. Tough cover for him and Randle abused him. On the extra point look at the goal post on right side of video. About 3/4 of the way up. Im the big guy wearing a white shirt. Cant miss me!!!
I mentioned this in another thread. That, after I went back and looked at a few games over the past few seasons it appears that GC's offensive scheme isn't geared for long drawn out drives, but is more effective for the quick strikes. I was wondering had anyone else noticed this, or what was others take on this, but no one responded.
I don't see what the big deal is with this. I mean, its a game after all, right? I think he's due some fun moments. He made a great pass, hit his target and scored a TD. So you're saying he should maintain a robot face and move on? This is as ridiculous to me as the rules about celebration. These are kids. When NFL players do it, no one says anything.
I remember a few people saying he wasn't fast. Ask Brandon Taylor if he's fast. I'm originally from Bastrop. When we played Franklinton in the '07 playoff semifinals, Bastrop put a whipping on them and B. Taylor got all of Rueben that he wanted. Rueben also returned punts his sophomore and junior year before playing QB his senior year. He was PROLIFIC as a punt returner. He returned somewhere around 10 or 11 in that two year period for TD's. They also thought he wasn't fast because he didn't run track in the spring, but he loved baseball and was a very good centerfielder, but he could've easily ran track and been very good there as well. He didn't run 40's his senior year during evaluations because of a bad hamstring that didn't heal until the spring. He's not a blazer by Patrick Peterson's standards, but I'd be surprised if he wasn't in the low 4.4 range which is plenty enough speed to burn an opposing defender.
I like the "you can't see me" face wave!....some damn emotion!..i didn't see anyone complaning when Hester and co were doing it every big play...Glad to see some excitement finally!....some swagger...shows he's getting some confidence!
Rueben does. Actually, I don't mind 'you can't see me' when done in context (after a score/huge play that stops a drive, etc.) and in moderation. I think it builds team unity, much like the jumping chest bumps (and it looked to me like JJ was looking at RR when he did it). I just made the point about RR because I think his stone face is awesome. TOS is bats**t crazy usually, but their "Rueben Randle Emotional Moments" fark thread is comedy gold.
