I've always wondered why JJ has received so many opportunities. Maybe he has photos of Les...maybe Les doesn't like Lee...maybe it's a locker room issue...who knows but I know two things... It's NOT because he has earned it...and it's NOT because he's a good QB. I hope & pray we're able to use both and win a title. I have absolutely NO confidence in JJ leading us to a title alone. I wish I did but I've watched most of his games in person and just don't see him having 3-4 great games in a row when he hasn't had that number in three seasons.
This thread seems like the most appropriate place to post this... I was watching some of the Jets/Patriots game last night, and guess what, Tom Brady got called for intentional grounding in the endzone. Happens to the best of 'em... :geauxtige
Brees & Brady have also throw INTs this season but didn't get benched two consecutive series and then directed to throw a deep pass on their first play when they returned.
Hoping that this is an issue of Lee missing class and Miles messing with Petrino's head. In reality, we need to revert back to a ball control offense methodically driving down the field with a game manager to beat Arkansas, Georgia, and our BCS Championship opponent. Say what you will, JJ is not THAT quarterback. Saturday was a rewind of 2010 albeit they came out flat against WKU post-Alabama. We will need about 15 completed passes against these better teams to keep them off of our running game while making sure we maintain some drives. Lee has proven that he can do that all year.. Oh yeah... so he made some bad decisions against the best defense in the nation. OK. It didn't cost us the game and there were no pick sixes. JJ did cough up 2 points against... wait for it... WKU... that's all
True but JL isn't in eithers class. Both Brady & Brees have a long history of performance under pressure. JL's history is when he goes into a funk he doesn't have the ability to recover in the game. Hopefully his play especially the runs against WKU were a big step forward. Let's hope he continues against Ole Piss. We will need him somewhere. :geaux: lefire:
Technically he wasn't. The pass to Clement should have been over his right shoulder and further out to lead him into the endzone as opposed to the circus catch he made and fell short of the endzone. The long pass to RR should have been longer as well as he had to slow down and it allowed the defender to close in on him. The pass to RR before the half was off the mark as well. If he would have put it in the back right corner of the endzone only RR could have caught it and it would not have been defended. Not complaining because they were good enough and I think thats the best you will get out of jj. But to be technical he was not that good regardless of the outcome. With that said JL is not much better which is why all the qb debate is kind of silly. As long as we win with the two we have lets ride them to New Orleans and usher in next year with a true passer.
I hear this often but who came off the bench several times last year in huge games to win the game? It wasn't JJ. He's one-dimensional and will never be a good QB. We need to use both during these last few games. Keeping Lee on the bench is a mistake in my opinion. If the plan is to start JJ and leave him in...I don't believe we can win it all. If the plan is to start JJ and leave him in until we need Lee in the last few minutes...I don't believe we can win it all. I like using both and keeping teams guessing. I don't like having one-dimensional JJ in and watching teams stack the line of scrimmage because that usually ends in three plays and a punt. Through 10 games this season...how many times did Lee get in a funk? Once? How many times have we seen the offense go nowhere with JJ over the past three seasons? It's a lot more than once.
The problem is the way that this 2 QB system is setup. It's one thing to have a starting QB, no questions, and a change up QB. This is the way it was with Flynn and Perilloux. In contrast, the way CLM has these two set up, they are constantly in competition with each other. If they make a mistake, they are looking over thier shoulder, .. this is especially true for Lee, as the same doesn't seem to apply to JJ as much. JJ can stink up the field, Lee can come in and save the game ... JJ starts the next game. Lee can stink up the field, JJ comes in, and plays safe ball .... Lee gets benched, JJ gets the start. JJ is probably playing with a little more moxy, because JJ has nothing to lose. He's not the current starter, but wants to be. Lee, on the otherhand, has probably had in the back of his mind ... "is this the game I go back to being the second string QB" .. on just about every game since JJ's return. I'm just hoping that CLM used the WKU game to get JJ some passing experience and build his confidence. .. and I'm hoping Lee was in on that plan. But if CLM's motive is to make JJ the permenant starter, and stick Lee, the guy who's won 8 of the 10 games this season, back in the shadow, .. I'll consider that a grave injustice. And, given Lee's psychology, it could turn him down a few notches, and be the end of the performance he's built up to. OTOH .. I could be completely wrong .. .and Lee could be a major competitor, and come out smokin' when his number is called ...... BUT ... The PROBLEM I see, is that if history is any indicator, and if JJ is now the Starter, if Lee comes in, saves the game ... JJ will conitnue to be the starter for the next game. [complete opposite of what just happened to Lee]. That's not much incentive to do your best.
