I vaguely recall this. I prefer a pure passer for quick slants gashing offenses for big yardage. I must say that a QB that can run is hell to defend against. Look at what Michael Vick did when he was at VaTech. No, they didn't win it all but they were very, very hard to play against.

Hell, I like a running qb, but with the team we have I believe making defenses tackle our RBs makes it more likely that we will achieve victory. In comparison, JJ pussyfoots and avoids contact. Plus, he's quick to abandon the pass, which makes the D respect our passing game less and tighten down on the ground game.

Sometimes .. you don't have the choice to play it close. When the opponent has a high powered offense that is going to put points up on you, then you have to have the ability to respond wiht points.

If JJ comes out starting next game, you can kiss Lee's performance goodbuy. He'll go cold. And why shouldn't it. To win 8 of last 10 games, only to be pulled so that the other guy gets all the glory of starting the "big games", meaning CGs, that would be a pretty big motivation killer.

If you read my posts I've always maintained that they are mis-using JJ. I'd use him as a drop back QB and run the option on occasion or use a read option that is really a pass. This way he may not run for several games but the same plays COULD be and when adjustments are required design them as options-to-run. As he's been used this season the opposing team KNOWS it's a read option or bootleg or QB sneak. Not strategically brilliant. It has worked but there is nothing written in the stars that I can read that says it will ALWAYS work. Arkansas, maybe Georgia and then perhaps Oregon, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma or Alabama - politically the NCAA will probably go with Alabama for the highest grossing, highest audience BCS Game thus far. And I still think that when both are healthy they ARE the two best in the NCAA.

That would require a QB who is a solid passer. That JJ is not.

I understand what you're saying, but you're over-simplifying in that QB play is not the only reason we're winning this year and it's not the only reason we were in the cotton bowl last year.

I would contend that we'd be exactly where we are now had JJ started the whole season, and that's not to take away from what JL has done. Different season, different team, different chemistry, different OC, a more mature defense, etc.

I thought JJ made some decent throws last night. The TD to RR was perfect.

The 80-yard TD play just before half happened for two reasons.

    1) As you stated the defense was burned...
    2) We called TOs to get the ball back in JJ's hands and he couldn't get a single first down which left enough time for Arkansas to make a play...

When JJ is your QB and you need 80 yards for a TD...YOU TAKE A KNEE! The guy started for two years and hasn't progressed...period. He may not throw an INT but he also won't move the chains.

He's a good guy to rotate in like we did with Perilloux. He's NOT an everyday starter. He has been given more opportunities than just about any QB in SEC history but still rarely gets the job done.

Go back and look at his career. Some people give him credit for games won by defense, special teams, and Lee.

I have hoped time and again that JJ would finally get it. I hoped something would click in his head and he would understand defenses...learn clock management...make good decisions...learn to run the option...etc. It just hasn't happened.

I hope to see both QBs play in the remaining games. If they use Lee as the primary and JJ as the backup...I think we have a great chance at the national championship. If we use JJ like we did Saturday...I think somebody else walks away with the crystal.

Either way I'm glad this QB fiasco is almost over. I can't believe we've won so many games the past four years with such weak talent at QB. I can only imagine what hardware we would have in the trophy case with a good QB.

Mett...I hope you're all we've heard you are!

Jj has the physical talent but isn't mentally quick enough to play qb. He gets lost, takes too much time to think about where he is going to throw the ball and has poor situational awareness.
Jl is smart and has a good enough arm. His problem is that once he's hit his rattled. He hasn't been the same since jj came back. Once he's out of school , he will think back to these years and think about how jj got chance after chance and how les phucked him. He won't say it. I bet his girlfriend or someone else that's really close to him knows all about it. If jj would have never came back then lee may have not regressed but progressed into being another Matt Flynn. I will never see miles as being fair to lee. Miles has not given lee the love he gave to jj. I wonder sometimes if miles has to do what he has done to keep his lockerroom happy.

With open recievers against a cupcake. There is a reason Miles puts Lee in the game if we're losing by a TD.
