I don't think we know, since Lee has not had the chance to have any meaningful playing time this year. I agree with all of the above. I think they should bench him, or have him split duties with Lee until he knows the playbook better. No, I am not writing him off. Regardless, I still think he should learn to be adaptive to any situation. With the apparent confusion, I wonder if the players are not as well versed with the plays? I honestly think Lee deserves a shot; I suspect he is more mature this year, and may be able to read defenses this year. At this point, I think JJ might be slipping down the same path JL was in last year. JJ needs a little break and pressure off his back. The two QB's can work together and be supportive of each other. JJ seems to be getting more and more gun shy or overly cautious.
Against who? UL, very impressive. We all want JJ to do well and need him to do well but as a realist ,hes not ready. Never in my life would I have told my coach" to give it to the RB with the game on the line". No confident QB would. Hes a young guy the youngest QB in the SEC but hes just a FILL IN IMO untill Russells ready to go. Now JJ isnt the only problem here the other is every aspect of Crowtons Offense.
so does that mean I would look good as an LSU QB with a great O line? I played QB on a church league. A QB needs other skills. JJ has alot of Good skills, he is still in his fomative years, the jury isnt in yet. My point is he cant do much with a sorry line. If you seriously think the QB is mostly responsible for how a O line looks then we need to stop this exchange right now. In theory, the O line can run block and pass block their assignments with NO ONE in the back field.....they sometimes practice this way. Again we HAVE to win the battle at the LOS. thats key in Any football game or team. its fundemental, you dont have to be Bear Bryant to know that. sure a QB can develop habits to help the line but this O line has not demonstrated the ability to consistantly run block or pass guard. The BEST QB would have issues behind a line that doesnt keep the Defense out of the backfield. I dont know if they are under coached or under acheiving, thats the only question I have. JJ might very well have alot of issues but I cant see how you can honestly judge his play under the circumstances he is in.
I agree he's not "ready" in terms of seasoned but he's not in WAY over his head either, imo. Washington is a good team- not great, real good. Winning on the road in Sanford Stadium is no small chore. You mention Crowton's offense, and I agree. Maybe different plays would facilitate him using the tools he has cause he does have some.
Outside of the large gap in interceptions, I don't see a discernible difference one way or the other. At some point, we're going to have to decide which one to develop and then just deal with the growing pains if there is to ever be any improvement.
Any intereptions are big because not only does it take away a possession for your offense, but it gives a possession to the opposing offense. Interceptions returned for a touchdown are much, much worse for obvious reasons. I think the coaches are really stressing ball protection and it shows with Jefferson's play.
We've seen him play in like 9 games. Against poor competition, good competition. and average competition. What more do we need to see? He struggles even against the poor teams.
so did Lee. Not saying Lee wouldnt be better, just saying we need to either recruit linemen or compell better play from the group we have now. Start with the BASICS. mean time we need to get the ball to our skill players, roll JJ out, get the ball to Holiday and shep in space, throw some screens to keep them from stacking the box, if JJ cant throw a basic screen we are in trouble, but we havent seen much of that called.
