Spring games mean nothing....They're for delusional fans.

Why, I personally haven't missed an LSU spring game since 1966 !! :insane:

Thing is, I never know exactly what to take away from spring games. Do the numbers mean you have an all-world offense, or a really lousy defense? And vice-versa?

What bothered me about watching JJ in that game is after starting out well, as soon as the defense adjusted he went right back to old habits: holding on to the ball too long, throwing behind receivers on short routes, etc. Maybe some more time with Krag will help, I sure hope so.

to be fair, McElroy had the greatest season for a QB in Alabama football history last year, setting school records for both passing yds in a season and passing TDs in a season: 2,987 yards, 20 TDs, 5 INTs, 70.9% completion rate... those stats are pretty good being that Bama is a run-first team

i remember that, Brantley did crappy in the spring game, but ESPN pointed out that he'd been throwing for 70% in practice stats up to that point. i remember reading about another team, Georgia i think, keeping the practice stats of their QBs and the media getting their hands on them. i'd imagine LSU keeps the stats of how well our QBs are doing at practice, i wish those stats would get leaked

True, he did have a very good season, just not as good as if you extrapolated this gratuitous stats from the spring game.

I think that bama fans are going to miss McIlroy a lot this fall. A whole lot.

Now McElroy can brag saying he surpassed Kenny Stabler and Joe Namath. Just a hunch, he won't have as good of a pro career as they did.

And that speaks volumes of Alabama's secondary more than it does their quarterbacks. Jordan Jefferson tore up Alabama's secondary as well. Their QBs weren't that great, they just had a great O-line, two amazing RBs, Julio Jones and a stout defense to take away all the pressure.

I was at the MPA in Thibodeaux, and liked what I saw. Someone is definetly working with his pocket fundamentals. His foot work and slow delivery has improved. He can throw it a mile but he was still a little off the mark on the long balls. I am sure with the WR we have they can make that up. He also looked more relaxed and like he was having fun, which I think will also make him better.:geaux:
