He won't be our starting qb for long if he keeps taking hits like that. He needs to learn to run out of bounds or something b/c when we get to the SEC someone is going to take him out if he doesn't.

This really deserved its own thread? He really only took 2 big shots.. the rest he did an excellent job of minimizing the blows he took.

Actually this topic does need to be discussed.

Why the heck Shepard wasn't in the game for some or most of those designed runs is way beyond me. That was ridiculous.

If we have that many designed runs for JJ this season, he won't make it to the Florida game.

I totally agree. JJ is a tough kid but if they keep using him on runs like that in SEC competiion he will finish the season on the bench wearing a cast. I would have loved to see what Russell might have done on thse same plays with his speed and elusivness.

It is fun watching him run though. He's a pretty tall guy but he's got very good instincts when running the ball.

For such a tall guy, he's quicker than I suspect. He surprises me with his speed.

I dont mind him running, but he needs to learn how to slide or get out of bounds. If a QB that can run is scared to run, what is the use of having him back there.

You think JJ is scared to run?

I think just the opposite, he is too fearless and doesn't know how to avoid getting nailed at this point.

Regardless, Shepard needs to run those plays anyway.

No I dont think he is scared, I think he should be running and getting out of bounds or sliding.

Yeah your 2nd sentence implied that. Was just clearing it up.

I hope we held back Shepard so that Vandy couldn't prepare for him. That would make sense. If he doesn't play at all, and JJ is getting his ass kicked again, I will be pissed.
