So, are you saying the great saban never had bad playcalling? How about trying to run out the clock on ole miss, ole miss calls their timeouts, gets the ball back and scores right before half? Losing that game and only attempting 9 pass all night then going on the road to bama a throwing for over 500 yds? where was that the week before? or the Iowa game at the end? UAB? Does that mean Saban wasn't a good coach?

TigerWins brought Up Saban....I thought we were talking about Miles?

But to answer you, Saban went into an annoying offensive shell....I remember the losses like I remember the wins.

I said Miles hasn't made any decision another coach wouldn't have made and you guys are so worried about him getting credit for stuff. Credit for what? He gets $2 mil a year and wears a giant top hat and asks ref's why can't he get is challenge back.....geez.

Miles gets credit for the wins my friend, don't worry. If he wins this year he may even get enough credit to get him to Michigan.

What do you want? A kazillion threads about what a **** play-caller Miles is on offense? The posters on Tiger Forums to band together and march down to the AD's office to protest starting Hester?

I'm asking because I have seen Miles's play calling and decisions regarding who starts and doesn't discussed on this board and in game chat. But a lot of posters either don't totally agree that Miles is too conservative on offense or don't think it's a huge issue. There was a lot of discussion during and after the MSU game about the play calling, AND pre-game about the depth chart. Maybe you missed it.

I personally don't think -- for example -- anyone who disagrees with Miles's preference to start experienced players instead more talented players is just being negative. But when someone constantly harps on that kind of issue and shrugs off any hint of something positive (i.e., Ott's incredibly lame comment regarding the hiring of Pelini), they come across as negative.

specific plays arent the issue. its the big picture for many and thats skins on the wall.

saban has 2 sec championships and 1 bcs national title=3 skins.

les=.25 (bcs bowl win over a div 3a nd team + the katrina year)

once you win a NC you can do all sorts of stupid stuff after that gets looked over. secc gives you leeway just not near as much but it excuses some things unproven coaches arent allowed.

people could deal with the hester/lester infatuation if he had a skin or two to show for it. he doesn't so people like me sometimes stir that pot in particular.

So what's your point? I've posted about the playcalling in one thread....this one and it was because I responded to another poster. I haven't harped on anything and didn't overlook something positive like the comment about Pelini.

If I have to rehash this the guy made a statement that Miles had made good decisions.......I responded. I didn't include the Pelini comment because I agree with the Tigerforums poster and not Ott. Should I have told the poster "good job" on the Pelini deal? Then I wouldn't have been negative? The guy who was negative was the one who said the poster sounded like a jacka$$ on the radio.......now that's negative.

Actually, pre-Saban, I can remember our secondary being picked apart and stinking it up. Not that he's the only one who teaches that but, if my memory serves me correctly, our secondary was very weak, for whatever reasons.

pre-saban everything was picked apart including the locks on your car door in the parking lot by some players.

thats why saban (& emmert) is praised for turning around a sunken ship. not just some diamond in the rough that needed a few adjustments. that bastard changed the entire landscape of LSU football even though we want to hate him and say he needed us more or as much as we needed him bs. its a load of crap. check the 1990's for a reminder what that diamond had turned into.

if not for him, regardless, this ship would likely still be capsized yet our memories want to tell us differently since its LSU. praise emmert for having the foresight and saban for getting it done on the field.

and saban's secondary was picked apart many times early on--one demetrius hookfin comes to mind.
