It's obvious Kimmel has no clue about healthcare issues. To imagine that everyone can get the same services no matter what is a children's fantasy. To tell people that the government can ignore market realities just because it's "healthcare" is an unfulfillable lie of the first order. Fortunately Kimmel is at best a comic as his lack of understanding of reality is destructive if he had a serious position.
hear hear. I lost any respect for Jimmy back when he cried on stage lamenting how Simba the Lion got shot. Now this multi-millionaire, who's family probably has A+ health insurance, not that they need it, is gonna cry cause his child has a heart defect and Obama Care may get repealed? Sounds like the idiot is exploiting his sick child for ratings & politics.
The funny thing is, under a single payer government run system, his kid would of had to wait in line and you know, could have died.
It's obvious YOU don't understand healthcare issues or markets. That aside, and not that what you said about Kimmel is true, it doesn't matter how much he knows about healthcare: it is undeniable that Cassidy lied right to his face. And Cassidy CONTINUES to lie.
That's a lie. Children like that don't die in Canada, but they certainly would have in THIS country before Obamacare.
Aside from the fact that Canadians rate the quality of their care as "excellent" at a significantly higher rate than most countries including the United States, there are justifiable reasons why wait times there are longer than here.... not least of which is the fact that THAT'S THE ARRANGEMENT THEY PREFER. They are very willing to trade a few waits for excellent service at near zero cost, and even at that their wait times are not unreasonable compared to international averages. Also, because health service is virtually free the typical Canadian makes appointments for treatments that Americans would avoid because of the burden here of having to meet deductibles. And, on top of all of that, NONE of what you posted indicates that a baby born with heart defects (as was Jimmy Kimmel's son) would die for having to wait in line in Canada, as you so smarmily posited. If you're at risk of dying in Canada you're moved to the front of the line. And this I'll tell you about wait times.... let's compare Canada's waiting hours to pre-Obamacare waits here: FOREVER. Before Obamacare, 40 million Americans would have to wait FOREVER for health care, and 45000 per year were DYING unnecessarily because of having to wait FOREVER because they had no health coverage. It's HERE, not Canada, where babies born with heart defects would have died because of lack of care. In a nutshell, you don't know what the hell you're talking about. By the way, here are a few more myths about Canada's system... exploded for you by the AARP: http://www.aarp.org/politics-society/government-elections/info-03-2012/myths-canada-health-care.html
And you want to know what should be the ONE THING that convinces you the Canadian system is better than ours? What a rational person would heed? What an intelligent person would concede? It's this: Canada used to have a system JUST LIKE OURS, based around private insurance companies. They ditched it. They're now HAPPIER. They don't want to go back. You name me just one major candidate in Canada, Australia, the UK, France, Japan, etc. who has ever run on a platform of abolishing their universal healthcare systems. Just one. You CAN'T. It doesn't happen. All your silly little arguments based on insurance company propaganda and myths couldn't sway a Canadian, an Australian, a Brit, a Frenchmen.... because having lived under their systems they KNOW you and the bribed pig politicians who have you snookered are full of shit.
Myths? I said a comment about wait lines. Its a fact. You said there wasnt any. Like a liar. Nice rant though.
