I'm not sure of the tension at FSU and maybe he would want a clean break and fresh start after the divorce and possible tensions with FSU, but other than that I don't see what else BR and LSU would offer. Pros and Con: Pro-great recruiting ground, top conference in the country, loves LSU, program is top notch and doesn't require a rebuild, money will be as good as FSU, food, loving fan base that would welcome him back home. Con: Baton Rouge doesn't compare to Florida beaches or golf if he is into that, can't provide any more money than what FSU can, will be competing against Saban for conference championships, will be a lot of pressure in a demanding conference. It depends on if he really enjoys LSU and BR that much, if he wants to be in such a competitive conference, fighting the best football coach of all time, and how comfortable is he really at FSU.
Frankly what this coaching search should come down to is, "can you bet saban and can you win the SEC" We don't nor should we expect 11 straight wins against the little twerp but we should not tolerate 5 straight games of losses (make that 6 possibly). We have way to much talent here to be the freaking whipping boy. I just don't think Jimbo can do that.
I didn't know about his sons health issues. He may not want to make too many changes right now in his life. There could be custody issues and such with him making a move to another state, then add the health issues of his son. http://seminolepost.blog.palmbeachp...-tacking-fanconi-anemia-for-son-ethan-others/
He's making $5 million right now, so LSU could pad that. There is also the lure of not fighting anyone else for LSU's prime recruiting ground. After that, it's been said that Jimbo just prefers Baton Rouge to Tallahassee. I'm sure that's not from someone who lives in Lousiana.
I certainly wanted Les gone, but I am still a bit nervous because let's remember, the people who are doing the hiring are the same people who somehow didn't manage to fire Les in November. I mean, you can't blame Les for keeping his job. You can blame our administration for allowing him to... I'm not sure I believe all the rumors about Jimbo last year. I still think it's a long shot. Coaches don't leave big time programs for other big time programs unless they get fired first or they "retire" like Urban Meyer. I struggle to think of a single time it's ever happened.
LSU's athletic budget is about a $20 million jump over FSU's. TAF and Seminole Boosters are a push. LSU can actually afford to pay Jimbo's assistants.
