I'm not sure how I feel about Fisher, although he is a step up. He does great work with QB's. My first choice would be Gruden as well but I doubt he comes to college. Anyways, I don't see him coming back to coaching for a while, if he does, and if he does it will be the NFL. I also like Franklin more than Fisher. If it is Fisher he brings a lot of cache and will have the name to keep recruits, plus possibly bring new ones on board. I stilll would be surprised if he leaves FSU.
If we're the quality destination place for head coaches all the kool aid drinkers jerk off to while eating jambalaya during tailgates, it's time we bag somebody we really want. In my opinion that should be Fisher. All I'm hearing is 'nah we can't get Jimbo.' Who are we, Memphis State??
If LSU wants a roster full of woman beaters, then Dumbo is their guy. And if they wanna win/lose games 52-49 on a consistent basis, then Chip Kelly is their guy.
I think LSU can get Jimbo, but I don't know why he would want to leave FSU, other than issues with "his bosses" (which includes upper echelon of donors, etc)? He makes 5 mil a year, is going to be in or around a NC just about every year in the ACC, and given a recent divorce/personal issues that may put him further away from his children. Unless he just has undying love for LSU, you have to figure Fisher is pretty happy with his set up at FSU
Think about this for a second. You are Jimbo Fisher, the university that didn't think you were good enough to be a head coach comes calling 11 years later. You already have won a national title and have produced a Heisman winner and could have a Heisman winner on your squad currently. You have a special needs child and you just got divorced. The university you are at isn't chopped liver, and would pay you just as much as the other university would. You don't have to face Saban and MacElwain, and Mullen, and Malzahn, and Beliema, and Freeze every year, you know that if you just win an ACC title every 3 or 4 years your job will never be in jeopardy. Take away the love you have for LSU and tell me what you would do?
To me, this is a great post. He's already at a university that is elite. What can LSU possibly offer him that he doesn't already have? How much more money could they pay him that FSU couldn't also offer him? Guys at elite universities don't leave voluntarily for other elite universities. It just doesn't happen. I'm struggling to think of a single instance of it...
If he felt that way then why did he stay here for 2 more years. He would've bolted like O did from USC last year. Will FSU really be happy with an ACC title every 3 or 4 years? They finished top 5 for 14 straight years with their previous coach and have won 3 NCs over the past 21+ years. I would suspect their expectations are just as high as ours. I do hear you on the competition in the ACC vs SEC, though. Clemson is really building something, however. College football is cyclical too. The SEC is not as strong as it was 3 years ago.
